Amid the surge in gun sales that began in March and continues even now, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) estimates 40 percent of sales are going to first-time gun buyers.
A report by the Wall Street Journal cites the NSSF estimate, noting that the FBI processed 7.8 million background checks for gun purchases from March to June.
The report pointed out that handguns make up the predominant portion of firearms being purchased, and that nearly two handguns, commonly used for self-protection, are being sold for every rifle or shotgun.

Good! That means more are armed!
Like Greg Gutfell.
I’m one of them. I’m working on a vanity about how much fun taking a gun to the firing range is.
The more I learn about gun safety, the angrier I get over the gross stupidity about gun issues the progressives display.
“Like Greg Gutfell.”
When metrosexuals starts purchasing firearms you know things are getting desperate. But then he lives in NYC.
Got my first shotgun a couple of weeks ago. But then there was a boating accident.
I would be concerned. Just about every time I've taken a rookie out shooting for the first time, they've pointed a loaded gun at me. They just aren't aware.
We could loose come good people in training exercises.
But you had the foresight to put your firearms in floating gun cases, so the boat itself was the only loss.
Wally world has been having some major sales on guns, like dealer cost sales.
Paul Harrell (youtube channel) is a good source of videos on all things gun related.
Thought that they were out of the business. Or maybe that is why.:)
Ya. That seems to be a very common mistake by a rookie.
As an “instructor” it means that you need to be extra diligent.
Absolutely!
I heard him say that yesterday - I was shocked. In a good way.
Interesting. I thought that firearms were restricted in NYC. Or maybe they just restrict the heck out of it so that most people will give up.
Thanks. I just finished a book named Concealed Carry and Home Defense by Michael Martin. I’ve found it very helpful. I also enjoy the Warrior Poets Society on YouTube, along with several others. There’s all sorts of good stuff out there. One thing is that it is hard to find a gun safety class that isn’t booked out passed Labor Day.
They are having sales you can’t pass up.
I got Savage Axis-2 .223 with bull barrel, camo stock, and 4x12x50 Bushnell scope for......less than...$300 !
