Trump may intervene in case of St. Louis couple wielding guns at protesters, Missouri governor said

The governor of Missouri says President Trump has promised to "do everything he could within his powers" to shield a St. Louis couple who wielded guns at protesters in their gated community from prosecution, even as an attorney for the client says charges are imminent.

Gov. Mike Parson said he spoke to Trump Tuesday and was reassured that the president-- who previously has retweeted a photo of the couple, Mark and Patricia McCloskey holding up guns in front of their house in the June 28 incident--"understands the situation in Missouri."

"He understands the situation in St. Louis and how out of control it is for a prosecutor to let violent criminals off and not do their job and try to attack law-abiding citizens," Parson said at a press conference.

"The conversation I had with the President, said that he would do everything he could within his powers to help with this situation," Parson added.

Parson and Trump's conversation comes days after police served a search warrant at the McCloskey's home in the upscale Central West End neighborhood of St. Louis, in the same area where the city's Democratic mayor, Lyda Krewson, lives.

Nearly 500 protesters marching for racial equality and against police brutality were headed towards Krewson's residence during the June 28 incident, after she read off the names and addresses of individuals petitioning to defund the police. Mark and Patricia McCloskey came out of their house, brandished their guns, and demanded the protesters leave because they were trespassing. The couple later told Fox News' Sean Hannity that they were fearful that the protesters would "kill us" and "burn down the house."

What’s wrong with the Republican Governor? Doesn’t he have a set of balls? If this isn’t a Federal case, why should President Trump get involved? This is a State issue. The Governor needs to do his job.

The prosecutor is totally unfair, and has already decided that the innocent couple is guilty. If Trump had the power, he should haul the prosecutor off to prison for life for trying to destroy the lives of an innocent couple.

Violation of United States Constitutional rights is a Federal concern.

Allowing citizens to be attacked and punished for protecting themselves, in front of the whole world to boot, is the business of President and the Federal Government.

Once this is allowed to happen. Others will follow in hordes.

DA Kim Gardner is a Soros-owned puppet. I checked the campaign disclosures. She got $100s of thousands from a Soros group in DC.

Rudy mentioned this on Fox this morning and Steve quickly cut him off. The entire segment was rather passionate about how our city is being destroyed.

They were Democrat Supporters but no more. Trump gained at least two new votes (and I bet a whole lot more) by acting in support of these two.

In addition, one of the black punks pointed to an upstairs window of the mansion and said that was going to be his room “when we take over.”

Unlawfully pointing a firearm.

On private property, with warnings given, and a mob shrieking its intentions of mayhem?

What pray tell in that corner of hell is required for a lawfully-pointed firearm? .

************* Understanding Missouri's Castle Doctrine

.

On January 1, 2017, new rules for gun-owners in Missouri went into effect. One of the changes was the expansion of the state’s Castle Doctrine which created a stand-your-ground right.

The Castle Doctrine is a common law doctrine that allows residents to use deadly force against anyone, based on the notion that their home is "their castle."

Basically, if an intruder violates the sanctity of your home, and you believe they intend to do you harm, you should be able to protect yourself or others against an attack.

According to Findlaw.com, Missouri's law is more extensive than those of other states because it allows you to use deadly force to attack an intruder to protect any private property that you own, in addition to yourself or another individual.

This means that if someone illegally enters your front porch or backyard, you can use deadly force against them without retreating first.

More specifically, a person does not have a duty to retreat.

They can charge them with anything. Most likely brandishing. I’m not going to look at the tape again but I recall the wife pointing her handgun (with her finger on the trigger) at the protesters. She could be charged with assault for that. If the husband pointed his rifle at the protestors, he could be too. Their firearms are evidence. Not suggesting I agree, but you asked. From a non lawyer, there’s probably more.

The ONLY problem I see from what did was leveling his rifle and she pointing her handgun at the protester/rioters...I think maybe he should’ve held his AR at “port arms” position and she could’ve pointed the pistol upward...

That's a big potential problem. Or defend their home from the inside, or from cover. Perhaps not display their weapons unless someone was well on their property, rather than what I assume was a commonly owned road.

If they are charged then the expectation is it will be unlawful use of a weapon, one clause being "Exhibits, in the presence of one or more persons, any weapon readily capable of lethal use in an angry or threatening manner." Class E felony punishable by up to 4 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The road the “protesters” were on is a private road inside the gated private community where they lived...

I'm guessing the prosecutor would distinguish between a collectively owned road/easement and their actual property in the context of the existence of a threat. Not necessarily my opinion, what matters at this point is the prosecutors opinion. And finally the jury

I think there was some reports that the “protesters” had forced the gate to their property open and were, in fact, somewhat on their private property

Mark McKloskey gave big bucks to Trump in 2016, I looked at the FEC database. He might have said good things about BLM when under duress, but I know where his money went last time, and probably his vote.

There is the root of the problem nationwide.

Soros bought Attorneys General all over the country.

Amazing that a DA can so zealously prosecute a law-abiding couple with LEGALLY owned firearms trying to protect their home.

With all of the death and destruction that has plagued St. Louis over the past few months, including the murder of David Dorn, you would think that this DA would have a full plate of cases to prosecute, yet somehow the lawful actions of this couple have made it to the top of her list.

Anyone with a single-digit IQ that the DA is simply trying to make an example out of this couple as a warning to any other self-defense advocates with this malicious prosecution.

I hope that this couple's legal experience will make them a much tougher opponent for the DA than she anticipated, and she will end up looking foolish for choosing to 'die on this hill'.
