Walmart and Sam's Club shoppers will be required to wear face masks to prevent coronavirus spread in all stores starting July 20, the company announced Wednesday.

"Currently about 65 percent of our more than 5,000 stores and clubs are located in areas where there is some form of government mandate on face coverings. To help bring consistency across stores and clubs, we will require all shoppers to wear a face covering," the retail giant said in a blog post.

Does this mean they will follow OSHA regulations?

You know what it says on the boxes of masks we buy?

Not for use in healthcare settings.

Hmmm....

[[Walmart and Sam’s Club shoppers will be required to wear face masks to prevent coronavirus spread in all stores starting July 20, the company announced Wednesday.]]

Meanwhile- countries that wear masks routinely, like China, get flues, and likely viruses, at the same rate as the rest of the world

“As expected, SARS-CoV-2 was experimentally found to penetrate surgical masks via normal breathing and even when rigged as powered air filters between hamster cages (a joke of Chinese slapdash science). Mask-wearing Asian countries have no less influenza that non-wearing Western countries. Studies on arms-length spread within the general population are few, but they generally show masks as ineffective. Even the best N95 respirators are unlikely to show much effect; the virus is a third of the particle size they filter.”

A point brought up by that site that i haven’t seen discussed is the increased risk of actually getting pneumonia while wearing masks 8 hours a day as mandated by some companies=- it increases the risk to the same level as the risk of getting the virus is without a mask apparently

Currently spending my money at Kroger's NOT Walmart.

Walmart revenues will suffer because of their mask decision.

If we all wore MAGA masks they'd soon be outlawed.

I get some dirty looks!

We prefer curb delivery. Cuts down on impulse buying. We used it before all the crazy started & love it. Saves a lot of time too. I do my online shopping carts late at night with a cup of hot tea. I keep the tab open on my browser. If I think of something or run out of something I just add it to the cart right then. No muss, no fuss. Just pick it up and voila, done.

And just about everyone in society now knows this. If confronted, the risk for a serious, possibly deadly, beatdown is very high. Is WalMart going to protect their employees or just throw them to the wolves and then use buckets of money to “fix” the consequences and add more “training”.

Just relax. Wear a mask if you want to shop there. Not that big of a deal. Probably a good chance this trend increases and other stores follow suit.

I messaged Wal-Mart customer service and asked about COPD patients that cannot wear a mask. Here is their email response.

Reference#: 200715-031661
Response email (07/15/2020 10:45 AM)
Hi ,

Thank you for reaching Walmart.com and bringing this matter to our attention.

We know it may not be possible for everyone to wear a face covering. Our associates will be trained on those exceptions to help reduce friction for the shopper and make the process as easy as possible for everyone.

As we have seen in states and municipalities with mask mandates, virtually everyone either brings a mask or readily complies with the requirement, and we anticipate that to happen in other areas as well.

We know some people have differing opinions on this topic. We also recognize the role we can play to help protect the health and well-being of the communities we serve by following the evolving guidance of health officials like the CDC. We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of our customers and members in wearing face coverings to protect their safety and the safety of our associates.

With this, I highly suggest to contact the store first where you do your shopping before heading to store to explain the situation so that they can further assist you.

It will be my pleasure to assist you further.

Sincerely,

Angelica D.

They aren’t Nazi’s. If they were they would force you at gun point to shop in their store. They aren’t.

“Buy Amazon stock. Sell Wal Mart stock.”
If I could afford 100 shares of Amazon, this nagging FReepathon would be over. 💰💰💰

But people with certain medical conditions are exempt. And the Hippa law makes it illegal to ask about their condition. So in theory there is nothing a business can do about it.

It’s now clear that the primary responsibilities of American business is not to make a profit and to be the best in its market; instead, the primary responsibilities of American business today is to not be “out-masked” and “out-nonracisted” by the competition. It remains to be seen if this “new” business model is good for shareholders and owners.

IMO, if a private entity requires masks, fine! I don’t like any governmental mandates. I’ll choose whether to wear or not, and where I’ll shop or not! For those who are clamoring for mandatory wearing, cower in place!

132.65 ▲ 0.65 (0.47%) Buy Amazon stock. Sell Wal Mart stock. W-M stock is very near an all time high. It has reached it's high during the China flu, I think I'll hold.

Surgeons wear masks for hours at a time and yet somehow survive.

I worked in a clean room for over 35 years. NOBODY would be wearing and rewearing ppe like this. Masks were changed out every few hours, and they were put on with gloves. They weren’t thrown on the car seat, or in a purse and reused. Plus, many people can’t wear them. We would have to make people who we interviewed suit up, so they could see if they could handle it.

No matter what, you must breath with these masks on. You know how you clean your glasses by breathing on them? Well, same here. That moisture is now going to attach to any bacteria that comes your way. Surgeons wear masks in a clean environ. This isn’t. I don’t want anyone anywear near me wearing one of those bacteria laden masks. May as well wear used underwear on your face.
