A friend who used to own a small restaurant said police cars in front of his business sent a sign his food was good.
The police have done an excellent job of making themselves hated. They are essentially armed tax collectors for the welfare state and, during lockdowns, proved themselves to be stormtroopers for fascist dictators.
Cops are human beings. If you treat them well, they will treat you well. If you treat them poorly, they’ll do the same.
Leadership that wants compliance with rules will make those rules clear, enforcement predictable, and punishments suitable for the noncompliance.
Leadership that wants to make those they lead to cower in fear and publicly lie will make the rules ambiguous, enforcement arbitrary, and punishments unpredictable in severity.
These are just facts. I would say the Uniparty falls into the second camp.

We have evil leadership in the Uniparty that has put everyone in fear. So some (shop owners trying to avoid ruin) will parrot the flavor of the day official line. Some are stuck in a YouTube echo chamber and will say all the fashionable words, but will call the police the minute they hear gunshots in their neighborhood. I think that’s where we are. Nowhere is debate happening over things like when to send psychologists to assess a mental health situation instead of always dumping some poor cop into who knows what.
We have no reasoned debate, instead we have death from above.

Sorry I have never found this to be the case in those I have known and met.
They have a job to do which can be very dangerous.
Simply put they are the opposite of “stormptroupers for fascist.” and most
definitely opposed to becoming stormtroupers for the Socialist’s that are
now endeavoring to take over the USA.

I think in a sane society we would be debating ever increasing police budgets by finding cheaper hires (the over abundance of unemployed psychology majors) for calls involving patients who have gone off their medication. There are a number of 911 calls that come in which don’t require a cop but which get a cop because when you hand a cop a situation that needs dealing with (and you don’t force them to stand down) that situation will get dealt with.
Instead of rational debate, these geniuses decided to persecute and defame the police, which made fewer people willing to do the job, supply and demand happens, and the price goes up.
Why not just be honest people discussing budgetary problems and underemployment and debate options like grownups? But no. These a-holes have a very high opinion of their opinions and want to force them on everyone, er, bless everyone with the splendid ness of their uniquely gifted and irreplaceable vision.
In some areas I suppose they did as they were told to do by their bosses. No reason to call all policemen “storm troupers”. They are also told not to arrest rioters that are destroying property. Results, abhorrent chaos leading to the attempt of a socialist takeover Castro style.

If they are enforcing the diktats of wanna be dictator governors, they are acting as agents of that dictator, so calling them stormtroopers is very much apt.
What do you propose to replace them with? Those masked unemployable minority studies basement dwellers currently vandalizing and desecrating monuments? NEA commubots unhappy with the pay they've been getting while NOT working?
Maybe drag queens with little to do now most adult clubs and public libraries are limited or shut down. "You're under arrest. Where did you get those fabulous shoes?"
Seriously though, without well trained police society will devolve back to a more primitive state dissolving the bonds of national unity (currently under such fierce attack), giving the Marxists using BLM and the psychological warfare of Political Correctness victory.
There's always a few bad eggs in every field. You don't carpet bomb that entire field to get rid of them.

I haven’t painted police as the sum of their worst parts. I slammed the Uniparty which appears to be doing the bidding of the globalists to discourage reshoring of manufacturing by tuning American cities into a basket case. The police are getting screwed by the arbitrary nature of the leadership in places like Portland, New York, and Minneapolis. Their lives are being made unnecessarily stressful and difficult.
Since we don’t have enough police officer candidates to fill the current demand, and since jurisdictions are bidding against each other, and are increasingly unable to balance their budgets, a reasonable way forward might be to discuss alternate ways to deal with some of the jobs they typically dislike. Mental patients who have gone off their medication for example. Maybe they could hire a couple of mental health professionals to send out to assess the situation first to resolve it if they can, and if they can’t, assess the situation so that when the police respond, they won’t be going into an unknown situation cold. Mental health professionals work cheaper and we have a lot more of them than police officers.
The Democrat run cities have made a mess and their malfeasance has resulted in the job of the police being much worse than it should be. Now we have a shortage of people willing to do that job.
The thing that is missing is for public officials to do their jobs and actually discuss solutions to manpower shortages and budget shortfalls instead of trying to exploit every darned opportunity as another chance to slam people doing a difficult and increasingly thankless job. These Democratic officials are making things worse for everyone, not just for their own voters.
The police are the first ( and for some, the only) interface with their government. That interface should be as close to flawless as possible.
