Former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions lost the Republican nomination for his old Senate seat in Alabama to former college football coach Tommy Tuberville, likely ending a long political career with a bitter defeat egged on by President Donald Trump.
Tuberville, 65, beat Sessions in Tuesdays Republican runoff as Sessions fell short in his attempted comeback for a seat he held for two decades before resigning to become Trumps attorney general in 2017.
Familiar to Alabamians from his decade as Auburn Universitys head football coach, Tuberville is now positioned for a strong challenge against Democratic U.S. Sen. Doug Jones. With Alabamas strong GOP tilt, the seat is widely viewed as Republicans best chance for a pickup as they try to maintain their thin Senate majority amid Trumps lagging popularity nationally.

What did he say?
Adios, Jeff.
Trump finally gets a pick right.
And then tehy’ll blame all of us for it.
Dont bet the house on it.
Thats assuming he wins. He was the opponent Jones wanted.
Who cares who Jones wanted? Heck he could have said Tuberville so we would pick Sessions who could be easy to beat because of his disastrous record as AG.
Take whatever Jones says with a grain of salt.
FU sessions...
Eunich
And then there’s his hedge-fund scnadal.
Session coulda shoulda woulda done a good job for Trump.
He couldnt do a good job. He was a U.S. Senator. No more incompetent, corrupt and just plain stupid type of human has ever existed than a U.S. Senator. None of them has ever done a days work in their entire life.
Moral of the story is if you need work done and accomplishments achieved, do not choose a U.S. Senator for the job.
What does Ditch [the post turtle] tell you?
he's permanently recused, just where he belongs
one less deep state swamp critter
His lack of loyalty and his dishonesty and cowardice cost us years of the Trump presidency.
Guess only but I suspect President Trump had others that he could
call on in which he trusted more. Trump wasn’t a political entity.
So she had no links to him for any reason. Thus he had no links
back to her for any political help.
Disloyal. Shut up, Ann, you disgusting POS.
With Sessions it’s never been certain whether he was disloyal or not, but ignoramus is a sure thing. Anti-Trumpers wanted Sessions back in the Senate just to bedevil Trump.
......”This was not so much a vote for Tuberville as a vote against Sessions”.....
I think even Sessions knows that.
Tuberville is a RINO, but the voters were punishing Sessions for being a turncoat coward.
