The Trump administration has ordered hospitals to bypass the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and, beginning on Wednesday, send all coronavirus patient information to a central database in Washington a move that has alarmed public health experts who fear the data will be distorted for political gain.
The new instructions are contained in a little-noticed document posted this week on the Department of Health and Human Services website, Sheryl Gay Stolberg reports. From now on, H.H.S., and not the C.D.C., will collect daily reports about the patients that each hospital is treating, how many beds and ventilators are available, and other information vital to tracking the pandemic.
Officials said the change should help ease data gathering and assist the White House coronavirus task force in allocating scarce supplies like personal protective gear and the drug remdesivir.
Hospital officials want to streamline reporting, saying it will relieve them from responding to requests from multiple federal agencies, though some say the C.D.C. an agency that prizes its scientific independence should be in charge of gathering the information.
The C.D.C. is the right agency to be at the forefront of collecting the data, said Dr. Bala Hota, the chief analytics officer at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Public health experts have long expressed concerns that the administration is politicizing science and undermining the disease control centers; four former C.D.C. directors, spanning both Republican and Democratic administrations, said as much in an opinion piece published Tuesday in The Washington Post. The data collection shift reinforced those fears.

the CDC is corrupt much like the WHO, and full of rot...
the amish director is a buffoon
this is a good move, the Dems and the corrupt leftist media have made the chinese virus scam into a political weapon and are using falsified, inaccurate data and information against the president and R governors.
Like that is not happening now.
Why make stuff like this up? Why mislead fellow FReepers?
From the CDC:
"A probable case or death is defined by one of the following:
- Meeting clinical criteria AND epidemiologic evidence with no confirmatory laboratory testing performed for COVID-19
- Meeting presumptive laboratory evidence AND either clinical criteria OR epidemiologic evidence
- Meeting vital records criteria with no confirmatory laboratory testing performed for COVID19""
Last night Mark Levin was talking about the fact that some tables of COVID death stats he was looking at last week had suddenly been removed from their website.
Someone got caught with their hand in the cookie jar.
This seems like a REALLY big, bold move by the prez. Perhaps we can return to truth and normalcy due to this
What they could do is have the data sent to the CDC as before with a copy sent to the Administration.
This will serve to keep the CDC honest and stop the lyin’ media in its tracks.
this post has the wrong link associated. here’s the correct link
Put some meat on the bones of this conspiracy theory. Who was cheating and to what end?
The straw that may have broke the CDC’s back occurred on July 9 when the CDC added 3.504 covid deaths to the March, April, and May numbers.

What does the article say?
Pound sand dude. We know you’re a Fearper plant. There’s all kind of facts out there about covid manipulation. Your agenda is clear.
Thanks for this information!!!
Now, how to weed out the hospitals claiming a case is anyone testing positive upon admission, even if they came in for a non-virus reason?
Hey!
Who’s this kinky so-and-so?
This is GREAT news
That would tend to help keep both recipients honest in their reporting.
TXnMA
My husband was hospitalized in April with symptoms that are common for Covid-19, but tested negative. But, based on this criteria, he was probably counted as positive, then they probably added 10-15 people he might have been around in the 2 weeks prior.
Now, how to weed out the hospitals claiming a case is anyone testing positive upon admission, even if they came in for a non-virus reason?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That is happening too. As hospitals now open up for elective surgery and other non-emergency care, they test eveyrone and some test “positive” even if they are not sick, or it’s antibodies, etc. And often tested multiple times. Each positive test is a “case”. And then the “probable/presumptive” cases that ensue... We’re all going to die of Covid several times each when this is all over.
I just read today--in the story about Florida's "94 percent infection rate" that turned out to be 6 percent--that there indeed have been strange methods of enumeration going on in the offices of our Health Lords:
In Florida, they'd been counting every contact made by someone who tested positive as a "Corona case." No kidding. Whether or not the contact ever got sick. And their definition of testing positive for WuFlu was the presence of antibodies against it. Which most people in the country probably now have from random contacts of their own--which is a good thing.
And . . . they'd been testing many of the same people multiple times. If someone tested positive for the antibodies--which doesn't mean he's sick, or that he can infect anyone else--he was counted as a "new case" each time he was tested! That's how you make 5 or 100 cases out of 1, or out of none.
And then there's the official statement from Trump's CDC.
Who you gonna believe?
The CDC has proved itself to be incompetent from the beginning of this Covid Monster mess.
