Senior White House officials reported that United States service members would be among the first Americans to receive a COVID-19 vaccine after it has been licensed. Officials said the groups likely to receive the vaccine first include the most vulnerable people such as the elderly, patients with underlying health conditions, employees in essential businesses and the U.S. military.
Operation Warp Speed (OWS) under way at the federal level is a response to the COVID-19 pandemic and has a goal of delivering 300 million doses of a COVID-19 vaccine by January 2021. Meeting that goal is part of a broader strategy to accelerate the development, manufacturing, and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics.2
The U.S. military is playing a significant role in OWS. General Gustave Perna is chief operating officer of OWS. Army Lieutenant General Paul Ostrowski is leading the supply, production and distribution directorate, and Army Brigadier General Michael McCurry is leading the security assurance directorate. In addition, 36 additional Department of Defense personnel are working on the OWS.3
The Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) announced that it has selected a lead vaccine candidate among the many experimental COVID-19 vaccines that Army researchers have been working on since the beginning of the year. They plan on testing leading candidate vaccines in human trials in late 2020.4
Brigadier General Michael J. Talley, the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (USMRDC) said:
"USAMRDC is moving at unprecedented speeds in the effort to prevent, detect, and treat COVID-19. We are supporting the whole-of-government response with the scientific knowledge and expertise to combat this world-wide challenge"

Terrible decision, our military could be incapacitated due to side effects. I know two first Gulf war vets who had to take the slew of vaccines.....they both have been suffering unexplained illness ( almost twenty years latter), the VA treats them best they can but both feel it was the battery of vaccines they were forced to take. The VA is silent as to the cause of their “ unknown” fatigue and misery.
Anyone that wants to do it. Then let them, but people should not be forced.
I find it funny how those that have been vaccinated are so worried about those that are not.
After all if they are vaccinated, then they have nothing do worry about. That is the argument they are making for vaccines.
If they are worried about the non vaccinated, then the vaccine is not protecting them like they claim.

Sadly we’ve always seen our military as guinea pigs. Hopefully it works great and nothing bad happens.
I am of the opinion that the first human trials should be of volunteers - about 1,000 - to first see if there is any harm in the vaccine.
Next should be an effectiveness test - about 10,000 who are first tested to be free of covid-19 antibodies, then administered the vaccine, wait a time period and then expose to covid-19.
If found to be safe (#1) and then found to be MORE effective than natural exposure (#2) ... then distribute the vaccine to:
Medical staff and First responders (EMS)
Police and Fire
Military and prison staff
Elderly and nursing home staff
General population
About as much say as I had with the Anthrax vaccine and boosters, which probably shattered my immune system so that i am allergic to the world now.

My immune system was all screwed up after I received the Anthrax vaccine.
The VA says, “Yep, you have immune system problems and they are service related, but not everyone has these symptoms, so tough luck.”

Not this crap again - we (the military) were selected in 1976 to get Swine flu shots - unfortunately it was a ‘live’ virus and many people got sick ... I’m sure the details are online ... wasn’t pretty

Federal civilian employees in DC also were told in 1976 to get the swine flu shots or take indefinite unpaid leave. I was one of them.
I remember when the anthrax vaccination came out. We had people getting so sick they could barely move. And since this was a flying squadron, everyone kept their mouth shut for fear of being grounded. I managed to put it off until I retired, so I never had to deal with it. But that vaccine caused a lot of havoc. So I’m very leery of any new vaccine.
Well that is one way to take out the US. Make sure many of our troops are sick or dying.
