Washington’s NFL franchise has announced that it is retiring the Redskins name, and plans to introduce a new name soon.
Monday’s announcement comes just days after the organization released a statement July 3 saying it would be undertaking a “thorough review” of the team’s name, a process the team said in Monday’s announcement has “begun in earnest.” In an interview July 4, Coach Ron Rivera — who is working with owner Daniel Snyder to choose a name — said he hoped the new name would be in place by the start of the 2020 NFL season. Others have said it will be revealed as soon as within two weeks.

What about Nissan? Yes I remember when they were Datsun. But I didn’t know that change caused them problems.

I hope they don’t cancel the NFL season because I want the opportunity to give them the big middle finger.

Call them the DC Tyrants. The logo is a Jackboot standing on a citizen’s neck. With the players wearing uniforms that look like a swat team and the quarter back’s looking like a German SS officer. They can paint the football to look like a teargas canister.
The Washington Monitors with a Komodo dragon as a mascot. That way we could call them the Washington hall monitors. It just works on so many levels.
I recall reading articles at the time that the change had caused a severe slump in sales. I didn’t find the sales figures, but I did find this...
