Zimbabwe VP blames colonisers for not teaching locals how to run economy
Zimbabwes Vice President, Kembo Mohadi, has blamed the country's former colonial ruler of not teaching native Zimbabweans to run the economy as the southern African nation battles a prolonged economic downturn.
Addressing the ruling Zanu PF provincial structures in Gwanda, south east of Bulawayo, Mohadi lamented the economic depression the country has gone through since independence from Britain in 1980.
"We got our independence but the white man never gave us knowledge on how to run our economy," Mohadi said in an address broadcast on national television on Saturday. He said the only knowledge the locals had was to run bottle stores and general dealer businesses.
"That was it, nothing more than that," he said.
Mohadi, who is one of the country's two vice-presidents said the colonisers did not do much to impart knowledge to the locals.
Zimbabwe, which was once known as the 'bread basket of Africa' degenerated into economic chaos in the early 2000s under former president Robert Mugabe's administration. The country's controversial land redistribution programme which saw the seizure of white-owned farms was followed by political instability and hyperinflation that collapsed the local currency.
The Zimbabwean dollar, which was previously pegged at 1:1 with the green back is now worth just approximately 1% of its former value. The currency currently trades at 100:1 against the US dollar in the widely used parallel market.
More than 4.3 million Zimbabweans are rural areas are facing food insecurity, according to the latest Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) analysis, undertaken in February 2020.

There's so much to say about this.
Do they still eat each other?
But that would mean the colonizers knew more about running an economy than Holders people. What is this guy, some kinda racist?
The thing is, had Rhodesia been allowed to still exist over time, more blacks would have become successful businessmen, and gradually achieved more political power, in a still prosperous country.
The problem was that you had Soviet agents forcing the issue and causing De-Colonization to be too swift, since they wanted to take advantage of the following chaos.
Africans only had what? Three or four thousand years to create Western Civilization? How did they squander all that time? Why did they let white men in Europe do it?
The first lesson is that the Best economy Isnt run by government. Any government. By any Race.
Whoever is in control is to blame.
But that would mean the colonizers knew more about running an economy than Holders people. What is this guy, some kinda racist?
The white folks were too busy fleeing for their lives to offer any last minute suggestions... :-(
I wrote a short story on this topic and posted it here almost twenty years ago—here it is:

He very nearly said it: we are too stupid to run our own affairs.”
“...”We got our independence but the white man never gave us knowledge on how to run our economy,”...”
So, Gee Kembo... you’re saying “the white man” was SMARTER than you???
Glad you admit it... :^)
Exactly.
Apparently too stupid to pick up a book and learn as well.
Not like the people of thousands of years ago had such resources.
Unbelievable. All the black racists smell blood in the water and are on the prowl now.
Soon Democrat run cities will be saying the same thing
He’s got a point. In most of the European colonies, there were few universities beyond teachers colleges, and almost no engineering, management, or hard science programs. If some African wanted those things, he would have to go to a college in Europe.
For example, only one of the top ten universities in Nigeria was founded before 1955, and most were founded well after independence. Zimbabwe had virtually no universities until the 1990s.
Whites are being portrayed as the villains of every story, who deserve to lose everything they have.
The Soviets created Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow for that purpose.
You can buy a 100 Trillion Dollar Zimbabwe bill for $89.

CHAZ/CHOP had a short-lived experience running their own nation.
It takes a lot more to run a nation than just having a warlord bellowing out orders.
What happened to the garden(s)?
I’m pretty sure there were numerous comments from numerous people over the years, and people with real economic knowledge, who were flailing their arms and screaming at them what they were doing wrong and how to fix it.
South Africa is going the way of Zimbabwe. It will not be pretty. If I owned my home, I’d personally take in and sponsor a Boer family and help them get on their feet in the US.
