Skip to comments.Blue State Blues: Trump, Lincoln, and the Election of 1864

Nervous supporters of President Donald Trump have been reminding themselves that the presidential election looked as tough at this point of the 2016 as it does today.
An even better parallel might be the election of 1864, when President Abraham Lincoln looked almost certain to lose his reelection bid to presumptive Democratic challenger George McClellan, whom he had recently fired as general-in-chief of Union forces. The fate of the country hung in the balance.

I love Trump and I love America and I think Trump is going to win in a landslide. I think something big is already underway and I think that is what all this Leftist overreaction to COVID-19 mob rule is all about.
I believe God in his love and mercy is about to sweep the world once more for souls before it all comes down (Luke 14:22-23). I also believe God has raised America up for such a time as this - to facilitate this soon-coming worldwide re-awaking as a light around the world.
Thats what these flood of satanic attacks these days are all about. As usual, Satan in his Johnny-come-lately role, is trying to assert his power and stop what God has already started, just like he did upon the birth of Jesus when Satan had all the boys killed who were two years and younger. But as then, so now, nothing will stop God in his purpose.
Let us pray that God will raise up America once more for this purpose and that the true grace of our Lord Jesus Christ will flood and capture his people to spread the really good news of the grace of Christ - something for which the world is desperately hungry - that the Masters house might be full (Luke 14:23).
One thing we can be sure of,
the fate of the country
hangs in the balance.
Let us not be found wanting!
Ultimately, the tide of war turned in late summer. When news came that General William Tecumseh Sherman had taken Atlanta, with Confederates burning their own city in retreat...
When I see a long time hardcore lefty like Leo Terrell call out his own side on these protests it makes me hopeful that there are Democrats who realize their side is subjecting the country to something awful if they’re allowed to get away with it. Maybe wishful thinking, but it isn’t just conservatives who are fed up with all these restrictions and disruption of society.
I’ll drink to that.
K. If you’re near Albuquerque NM, let me know - we’ll have a brew.
Definitely a meme to share!!!! With all your democrat friends .. .that is if you have any.

I wonder how the Democrats will screw around with the delegates this time they have been at it for decades.
They did not have polling at all in 1864.
I hope we can deliver a nice victory for America in the final months of the campaign to remind the people what Trump is doing for us. It would offset the drip drip drip of negativity the media tries to feed us daily.
“They did not have polling at all in 1864.”
And they were just as inaccurate at they were in 2016.
As a convert to the “Many Worlds” interpretation of quantum mechanics I have to accept that at some moment before the final electoral count is announced the Universe will branch into two versions, one where President Trump wins and one where Joe Biden wins. According to the theory there will momentarily be two versions of me in a state of “self locating uncertainty” which ends when I(we) hear the official announcement. Once thing is for certain, the two worlds that will emerge from this split will not resemble each other in a very short amount of time.
Please route me to titles of books about this subject. I know there may be parallel versions of the timeline we seem to be in. But need to know more about what you said. I have some knowledge of similar topics, including about 15 nonfiction time travel books.
Especially interested in "self locating uncertainty."
If you have a chance, thanks. No hurry.
This soon may have to replace my tagline.--------
P.G. Wodehouse : I can detach myself from the world. If there is a better world to detach oneself from than the one functioning at the moment I have yet to hear of it.
Still shaken by the conversion of Leo. He was consistent with his liberal views. If he has changed, something wicked this way comes.
The ONLY poll that matters is the one cast on November 3 !!!
