As many as 8,000 California prisoners could be released ahead of schedule in an unprecedented attempt to stop the spread of COVID-19 inside state prisons, with more than half of the releases expected by the end of the month.

The announcement on Friday by top advisors to Gov. Gavin Newsom offered stark evidence of the dire health conditions at several California prisons. On Monday, the top medical officer for the state prison system was removed from his position following criticism of inmate transfers that are believed to have led to a much larger coronavirus problem in prisons than existed this spring.

But those convicted of violent felonies and sex crimes would be ineligible for release. Only those with a year or less left to serve would be considered eligible.

Californians are going to have to let the rich have their private beaches or they will keep getting stuff like this.

No no no, masks protect from the Rona, give them masks, they are magic and they don’t need to be released.

Because criminals wandering the streets are like antibodies to Covid-19.

Our society is breaking down folks...

This tactic of allowing that to continue as if it will
suddenly go away, is defeatist, and will result in the
total destruction of our nation.

This vile, ultra-Left governor is doing everything he can to hurt Californians, stall the economic recovery and garner support in the Democrat/Left Party for a presidential run in 2024 ... for the sole purpose of helping stop Americans from re-electing Trump. Nancy Pelosi’s nephew just doing what he’s been told to do by the Democrat/Left Party leaders and he will do everything they require ... everything and anything (as we see day in and day out since March).

Because masks do not work. In fact, wearing them may increase your chances of coming down with the virus. Not to mention 999% of the people that wear then -outside of hospital and clinical workers - have no idea how to fit a mask properly

What insane logic makes these Democrats think that Californians need more violence and crime to coerce them into voting Democrat. It wouldn’t surprise me if CA votes Republican for President Trump and unleashes a vigorous slate of conservative Republicans running in the next mid-term. Wouldn’t that be a hoot?

“Only those with a year or less left to serve would be considered eligible.”

If that is accurate, and the offenders are non-violent, it is not a bad option. As it is, they would all be released within a year.
