Immigration Will Go Bust Without $1.2B Bailout By Charles Benavidez - Jul 02, 2020, 6:00 PM CDT United States With the Trump administration on a continued anti-immigration tear as a campaign-hedge for November 2020 elections, and as the COVID-19 pandemic rampages on, the American immigration systemlargely funded by visa and green card applicationsis basically running out of money.
Now, it may have to temporarily lay off thousands of workers, and thus potentially bring immigration to a near halt from its already painfully slow crawl.

With US unemployment rate at 11+% the president made the correct decision to halt certain visa's through end of year 2020.
So...4d chess?
I’m not seeing the problem here.

Sounds like a win to me.
More good news

They make it sound like that’s a bad thing.

Like you, where is the problem?
Gee all I can say is Wuhan! Sorry could not resist.
Raise the fee on H1B Visa applications.
$50k per visa per year.
Surely, companies who just cannot find a US worker with the required vital skill will gladly pay.
safehaven beats the heck out of Dummies.
I don’t understand.. why is that department dependent on the money it collects for Visas?
If its true then it is incentivized to give as many visas as possible. (Wow! that would be majorly wrong)
I thought the departments were given a budget based on their expenses, and whatever money they made went back to the treasury, so it would not matter if they made a million or made zero cents, the budgeted amount for their operation would be the same.
We may need one more “Alien of Extraordinary Ability” visa to get someone to play that tiny violin.
Sounds like a Win-Win scenario to me. Let those gov’t parasites fend for themselves in a marketplace with 11.4% unemployment.
Yeah, how is this a problem?
Wheres the down side ?
A lot of immigration processing is done by beltway bandit grifter companies (PAE comes to mind ) who churn though cases using low-paid private sector employees, security checks are pro-forma, the focus is production.

It is the fault of the DNC and all those Shutdown Conspirator Governors. Period. They own it.
And this is a bad thing?
I'm trying hard to see the down side of this but can't.
