People feel safe to tell others - whites - what they really think of them. They feel like they are totally protected from consequences now. This moment will pass but their comments will be remembered. Wallace is just setting the table for when he's ultimately released by his sponsors.

He's a unique entity in NASCAR, just like Danica Patrick was, and he's got essentially the same stats that she did.

The difference is that Wallace races for a single team owner (Richard Petty Motorsports), while Patrick had the benefit of a 4-team organization + 1 Xfinity Cup team (Stewart-Haas Racing).
