Atlanta, GA – Following weeks of dramatically increased violent crime and property destruction in the City of Atlanta, the July Fourth weekend saw over thirty Georgians wounded by gunfire, including five confirmed dead. Today Governor Kemp issued Executive Order 07.06.20.01, which declares a State of Emergency across Georgia and authorizes the activation of as many as 1,000 Georgia National Guard troops.
“Peaceful protests were hijacked by criminals with a dangerous, destructive agenda. Now, innocent Georgians are being targeted, shot, and left for dead,” said Governor Kemp. “This lawlessness must be stopped and order restored in our capital city. I have declared a State of Emergency and called up the Georgia Guard because the safety of our citizens comes first. This measure will allow troops to protect state property and dispatch state law enforcement officers to patrol our streets. Enough with the tough talk. We must protect the lives and livelihoods of all Georgians.”
Ok thanks. There have been so many incidents everywhere, that it worried me it was happening here too.
Looks like those Atlanta folks are running out of open season time to get their scores settled.

I feel your pain. I am having second thoughts on visiting the Peach State too. But, if I do I will be going waaaayyyy around Hotlanta. And, will travel only during daylight hours in areas that are not isolated due to out of state plates on my truck. Also, I will be traveling with arms for self defense.

Atlanta can fix her wagon next election. Just find a viable Republican candidate, and keep harping on her as the Dinkins of the South, who tacitly allowed an unruly mob to do the work of Sherman. The campaign narrative writes itself.

For that matter, what has Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson done to anyone lately. Hell, even Bedford Forrest hasn’t worn a sheet in over a century. The past is present, but only as an object lesson for the future.

Sounds like a good idea. I was actually going to go to Stone Mountain, which I have always wanted to see, and stay in one of the cottages they have there, but we cancelled after the thing on the Fourth. In addition to the people marching in to “pledge allegiance to the black nation” (whatever that is) they were apparently stopping cars on their way up to the site and harassing the drivers.
It was very sad, because when we cancelled, the park staff said they fully understood and refunded our deposit. We probably weren’t the only ones who cancelled. I feel terrible for these beautiful, historic sites being under siege by illiterate morons, who are trying and succeeding in driving away the visitors. I feel as if I gave in to them, but at the same time, I guess it’s best to be reasonable and cautious in these times.
I hope Georgia can provide enough law enforcement and guard protection so that people can move freely and safely in the area around Atlanta.
Well, the VERY FIRST DAMNED THING WE HAVE TO DO IS DEFUND THE POLICE, LAY OFF 50% OF THE POLICE FORCE, TAKE UP ALL THE GUNS FROM LAW ABIDING CITIZENS, ARREST ANY CITIZEN LEGALLY CARRYING A CONCEALED WEAPON AND TAKE THEIR CAR, HOME AND CHILDREN AWAY FROM THEM!!! These people are dangerous and are a threat to our criminals!! We MUST protect those criminals who are shooting at law abiding citizens to protect their selves from these law abiding citizens!!!
Okay, next on our agenda is to tear down a few more statutes. First, I order that we blow the confederate carving on Stone Mountain off and replace it with three top black NBA players. That would be a nice jester for race relations. To prove our goodness we will lay off another 10% of the police force and 50% of the county sheriff's deputies. I will entertain calling in the GA national guard to take control of the city and to control all these law abiding citizens in our state. They simply cannot be trusted.
