Kanye West is an artist, producer, record label executive and fashion designer, but thats apparently not enough for the multi-hyphenate. Now, the hip-hop powerhouse is looking to add another job to his ever-expanding resume: politician.
The rapper took to Twitter on Americas birthday (July 4) to officially announce he is running for the highest office in the land. The superstar began his message by writing, We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future, and he quickly got straight to the point by stating quite plainly, I am running for president of the United States! He then added the hashtag #2020VISION, which may be something he continues to use moving forward.

The down-ballot effect is a concern but realize that most of Kanye’s support will come from the inner cities - which are deep blue to begin with.
You have a good point about the inner city votes but what about a possible youth voter surge across the country? They might become enthusiastic to vote this time around.
Whether Kanye is really serious is still to be determined in the next few days, but he already has Elon Musk backing him.
Here’s a great twitter thread about Kanye from our FReeper historian LS, who saw this situation coming 2 years ago:

On da yuts.
Shhhh. I haven’t shared this much.
I expect da yut vote, with or without Kanye, to be way down due to the China Virus either drastically reducing fall enrollments or closing universities as public spaces entirely in the fall.
The impact of this is ELE for DemoKKKrats. If you saw the lines of kids in 2018 at ASU who would all be voting for Enema, you’d know what I’m talking about. Universities are the nexis of organization/mobilization of “da yut” vote. Without those numbers on campuses, you’ll see 18-30 share of the vote drop by anywhere from 25% to 30%.
Strangely, NO campaign so far seems to see this coming.
Factor that in with Kanye siphoning 30% of the black vote (and Trump retaining his 11% actual and an additional 3-5% stay-at-home?) DemoKKKrats are going to lose huge.
I am on the verge of increasing my EV estimate from 320-340 for Trump to 340+. This now puts VA, NJ, even IL into play. I don’t see an army of yuts coming out to specifically support Kanye. What I do see is him slashing into Demented Perv Biteme’s 18-30 numbers. This “should” mean we also retake the house and hang onto the Senate.
For Kanye, it is brilliant. I kept asking, how does he get the political experience he needs? Easy. He campaigns. If he refrains from attacking Trump too much, Trump won’t attack him. Then, in 2024, assuming Kanye has sufficiently prepared himself, he WILL be the nominee with Trump’s endorsement.
Ghislaine Maxwell says Jeffrey Epstein’s last words were “I can’t breathe!”
All interesting points.
He’ll get in FL.
TX & NC don’t matter. Watch WI, MI, PA, IL, NJ, VA, NV, ME.
Kanye WILL make a difference there.
This massively shifts the race. I had Trump winning big, but in many states (WI, MI) still narrowly. Now he’ll win those handily and put many more in play. This pretty much embodies the complete DemoKKKrat meltdown, losing the House and failing to get more than 1 net seat in the Senate. Kanye is indeed the white liberal’s worst nightmare.
Lessee, some Freeper named LS predicted this on New Mexico radio in October 2018. I did think he’d wait til 24, but this actually makes sense.
See my column today on David Blackmon’s blog, which I’ll repost on Twit. No sense rehashing it here.

That would be Vote West young man
the original is Go west young man...
I give him 5 days and he will change his mind and announce he is not running.
Good points which make sense. Thanks, Larry.
I was with you until that last line. Oh HECK NO!
First thing I thought of when i saw Kanye announcement was your prediction LS. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Sweet!!!
Let's hope Kanye comes out against democrat mayors while he's at it .... those are the people who betrayed the black community.
Fascinating!
Thanks. Hope you are right about this!
Interesting. And spot on about the school. How are they organizing without the beer and drug parties?
Thanks mucho,
Leni
