ESPN reported this week that the NBA plans to paint "Black Lives Matter" on its courts when the season resumes, in reaction to players' insistence "that the fight for racial equality and social justice be a central part" of the league.
But Fox Sports 1's Marcellus Wiley says that is "not a good idea," and gave an impassioned speech on his show explaining why.
"Children from single parent homes versus two parent homes: The children from the single parent homes (this was in 1995 I was reading this) [are] five times more likely to commit suicide. Six times more likely to be in poverty. Nine times more likely to drop out of high school. Ten times more likely to abuse chemical substances. Fourteen times more likely to commit rape, 20 times more likely to end up in prison, and 32 times more likely to run away from home.
I knew that. You know why I knew it? Because a lot of my friends didn't have family structures that were nuclear like mine, and they found themselves outside of their dreams and goals and aspirations. So when I see that as a mission statement for Black Lives Matter, it makes me scratch my head.
When I also see their mission is to eradicate white supremacy. In 2020, white supremacy is the mission. Woo, that's a lot of digging through minutiae right there. I'm on a show that I'm hosting with another black guy who is hosting with me who replaced another black guy, and that's just one example of it. So, I understand, I respect your space, I respect what you're protesting for. But will you respect others who don't support that same protest?"

they will not respect anyone who does not believe as they do
I wonder if Armed Lawyer in St Louis is going to change parties after being the victim of their terror campaign
Clearly, he is off the Reservation and needs re-education.
The NB what?
Nope. White guilt. Will try to appease the left by donating money to the cause.
People watch spectator sports to escape from things like politics.
If sports are no longer an escape, who needs them?
When are whites going to be fairly represented in the NBA?
That really exposed the truth about “White privilege”: It was always about intact, loving families, the primary indicator as to whether or not people will be incarcerated during their lifetimes. When you have public figures such as the former president of South Africa (not a Muslim) publicly practicing polygamy, then this should come as no surprise. They see the family structures of lions as more suitable for themselves than that of Judeo-Christian humans.
As I just posted on another thread: I wonder if BLM and the Democrats know how many smart, productive, black Americans they are insulting every day by coddling them like children unable to care for themselves.
Thanks for posting this. Was great to hear a voice speaking truth to PC!
NBA and NFL
Never. Again. Ever.
Actually, I think that circumstances actually prove the opposite. Isn’t in fact true that people watch spectator sports for politics now? If people were watching sports to escape everyday life, then the leagues would take measures to cater to that. Money talks, and the major sporting leagues have found their new sustainable audience, and it’s not conservatives looking for an escape.
If I ever even bothered with ESPN, I'd have to say, I'm going to miss this guy.
Well stated, Marcellus. I pray you can keep your job with a woke organization like ESPN.
By now, those armed lawyers have been convinced that there neighborhood was being invaded by white supremacists. The state department was recently warning about that you know...
“”””. Money talks, and the major sporting leagues have found their new sustainable audience, and its not conservatives looking for an escape.””””””””””
Yes, money talks. The thugs have told the nfl and nba that if you don’t tow the line your sponsors will be destroyed which leads the companies to bow to the pressure.
Agree they are nothing more than herd animals.
The black anthem is a huge red flag as to their intent.
Don’t want to be American? Then you want to overthrow the country. You have said it.
Marcellus makes an argument, but it’s an argument that’s a little off-topic relative to the protest itself. If he had said, “The NBA is taking sides and being provacative to their fan base” he would have made an effective, straight-forward argument. Instead he backs up and hits it from the flank and will no doubt say, “I tried.”
The NBA has been a leading-indicator on the health of professional sports for several decades. They’re in real trouble. So is NASCAR & the NFL. I expect they’ll all survive, but their salad days are over.
