A suspect in the disappearance of a 20-year-old Fort Hood soldier killed himself as law enforcement approached Tuesday night and a second person, a civilian, is now in the custody of the Texas Rangers and awaiting charges as the investigation into human remains found on the post continues, officials with the base say.
The unnamed soldier, officials said, was wanted in connection with the disappearance of Pfc. Vanessa Guillen, who was last seen April 22 in a parking lot outside her Regimental Engineer Squadron Headquarters. Her car keys, barracks room key, ID card and wallet were found in the room where she was working the day she disappeared.
Wednesday morning, officials at the Fort Hood confirmed they were attempting to locate an unnamed junior soldier who left the post late Tuesday and that as law enforcement officers approached him he reportedly pulled out a gun and killed himself.

I truly feel sorry for this poor girl and her family.
The Sgt gave himself what he likely deserved.
Whacking himself does not make up for the loss of Vanessa, but it’s better than nothing.
Is the purpose of the military to serve as a social program?
It should not be. It should have one purpose, and that purpose should be to defeat Adversaries of America.
So the military should only take Ugly women?
Actually not much different than in the corporate or political world.
Young woman need to realize that just goes with the sexes working together and they need to develop professional ways to discourage the behavior. Guys aren’t stupid they get it when you handle it right. I’ve had to do so throughout my career , the key is keep it professional.
” Another reason to not recommend the armed forces to decent young people.”
There are predators everywhere, sadly even in the armed forces of the United States.
There very few employment opportunities that are safe.
They are everywhere.
Don't care if you think so. I do not wet my finger and stick it in the wind to see what my opinion is going to be.
I will sometimes say things that people don't like, and if you want to chastise me, prove me wrong. Calling me names does not bother me.
Except she was only 20.
Just sayin'...
Tne military is full of enlisted from small towns, poor families in south and Midwest. They had imited opportunities. One of our relatives joined marines for this reason.
Wonder why she didn’t beat him to a pulp?
The more you yap, the more apparent it becomes that you have many issues and are sadly lacking in many others.
Trouble is, this girl is an example of what can go wrong with this policy, but too many people are afraid to make an issue of it for fear of being disrespectful.
Karen Hultgreen is another example of what goes wrong when you treat your military as a social program. And yes, i've been bitching about this Clinton decision ever since it happened. The media won't tell the truth about it, or any other of numerous bad examples.
Unlike very few in her age group, she took it upon herself to serve her country and lost her life doing so, albeit by the hands of a fellow soldier.
I have no doubt she was doing what she thought was right, but she and others like her have been misled. There is too much indoctrination going on nowadays with not nearly enough pushback.
It is male reprobates like her killer that weaken our fighting system, not soldiers like her.
As these sorts of reprobates are inevitable in any society, we cannot keep them out because they are too difficult to identify. The best we can do is deny them opportunity.
This Sargent Robinson may very well have been an effective war fighter if he had been denied any opportunity to engage in his reprobate behavior. Creating the conditions for temptation were in no one's best interest.
“Don’t try to put your words into my mouth.”
No need to, your own post prove the point.
Some can't. But that is not the primary reason why women shouldn't be in combat portions of the military. The primary reason why is because apart from rare exceptions, they simply cannot match the endurance and power of men.
There is a reason why there are women's sports and men's sports.
Well by 20 I’d expect her mother had the mother daughter talk about workplace issues which can come up? If not then she certainly had other gals there she could speak with. Not to mention counselors the military provide.
In her case this likely wasn’t just a hit from the sounds of the articles but sexual harassment.....which is a different beast.
You are conflating reality with "bigotry."
Is Women's sports "Bigotry"? Is Men's sports "Bigotry"?
Should we have women football players?
It isn't "bigotry", it's an acknowledgement of reality.
I’m on your side on this. Totally agree.
The ones I am concerned for are the sons who have to put up with the social engineering programs and fill the gaps to get the mission done and then get shit on in advancement because of quotas and virtue signaling.
"This Sargent Robinson may very well have been an effective war fighter if he had been denied any opportunity to engage in his reprobate behavior. Creating the conditions for temptation were in no one's best interest."
If Sergeant Robinson was willing to kill a fellow soldier over sex in a garrison environment, do you think he'd be a team-player when his life was on the line in combat? Really?
And putting him in a supervisory capacity over a female soldier is "creating temptation"?!?!? You really sound like a muslim.
Get help.
Exactly.
You’re correct....in fact I got the best advice from guy friends on how to handle myself with men...and how men think.
