A suspect in the disappearance of a 20-year-old Fort Hood soldier killed himself as law enforcement approached Tuesday night and a second person, a civilian, is now in the custody of the Texas Rangers and awaiting charges as the investigation into human remains found on the post continues, officials with the base say.
The unnamed soldier, officials said, was wanted in connection with the disappearance of Pfc. Vanessa Guillen, who was last seen April 22 in a parking lot outside her Regimental Engineer Squadron Headquarters. Her car keys, barracks room key, ID card and wallet were found in the room where she was working the day she disappeared.
Wednesday morning, officials at the Fort Hood confirmed they were attempting to locate an unnamed junior soldier who left the post late Tuesday and that as law enforcement officers approached him he reportedly pulled out a gun and killed himself.

How incredibly creepy and sad that a colonel (full bird at that) and an MSG would hit on a PFC
Imagine how she must have felt.
“Wonder why she didn’t beat him to a pulp? “
He. had a gun
Don't try to put your words into my mouth. I have no knowledge of any previous victim. If a male soldier gets killed, it's a conundrum to figure out, but females getting killed is usually pretty easy. Usually it involves sex and/or rejected suitors. Just another problem created by having a mixed sex military.
And for the most part they don't belong in the military.
“Another reason to not recommend the armed forces to decent young people”.
What are you trying to say?
R/S
GySgt, USMC (RET)
Because that is the only way many young women see as a way to get a higher education and make a significant contribution to society.
So when a female Army private goes missing from a rape and murder done by one or more fellow enlisted male superiors, they are a little girl who cant be called a soldier because we all know she was pretty?
You are a grotesque example of a man.
black on Hispanic murder. I’m sure the poor innocent black guy was the victim of white supremacy espoused by a white Hispanic. He’ll be the next Black Lies Matter martyr.
Unlike very few in her age group, she took it upon herself to serve her country and lost her life doing so, albeit by the hands of a fellow soldier. It is male reprobates like her killer that weaken our fighting system, not soldiers like her.
What thing did I say that you have taken as a joke? It is decidedly not a joke. It is another unfortunate yet predictable tragedy of putting women into the military with men.
The military accepted her.
The military has been accepting a lot of bullsh*t thanks to Clinton and Obama, but this doesn't make it sensible.
Women in the military is one of those things.
Then they should have protected her.
Yes, they should have done, but the best way to protect her was to either keep her out of the military, or put her in all women units. You know, the way it was done when America actually won wars.
Yes my friends daughter wanted to make a difference. Wanted to become a Dr and free education.
This sounds like an argument that women should not be in the military because military men can’t control themselves and are expected to rape women. Which is offensive to the male soldiers that serve in our military.
My thought. Somehow I don’t see a CSM involved in the murder. Probable Sgt or SSgt.
20+ years at FR and that’s one of the stupidest things I’ve ever read here.
Beyond the pale.
There is a special place in my heart for women service members.
An elderly nurse/angel (she had gray hair) held my hand on the deck of the Hospital Ship Sanctuary, I’d been shot in the face but conscious...
You can easily replace young woman with man. Exactly why cousin went to Annapolis and served in Viet Nam.
Just trying to quantify the extent of the bigotry.
And this is another comment that says “we can’t expect male military people to not assault and kill females, so females should be kept away from the men”.
Was Gregory a woman?
Also, what makes you think Gregory died from this same Sargent that presumably killed Vanessa?
Unless evidence emerges connecting these two cases, I would not just assume they are connected. There have been other people who have disappeared from military bases and were later found murdered. It is quite possibly two different incidents with different perpetrators.
You are wrong. I was a female JAG. There are lots of women in the service that do lots of good.
None of what you said here reflects on this lady. It does reflect on the utter incompetence of at least one male in the Army command structure to keep his privates under control and/or his murder predilections under control.
This woman was training to help our country as a member of the Army. How you can show disdain to her, specifically, which is exactly what you have done in this thread, is jaw dropping.
Imagine if someone said Your daughter is a little baby because she got her drivers license and her death from a combo rape/murder was justifiable, because we all know women cant drive as well as men. After all, how many auto racing events are ever won by women? Yeah, your daughter deserved it.
This is the equivalent of what you have done here, and you are happy with it.
If she had been a guy, he likely would have ignored her. Again, this is a problem that develops when you have pretty girls in the military.
Women do not belong mixed in with men in the Army. @ueers also do not belong in the army, in case you were going to suggest this might have happened to a man.
