A suspect in the disappearance of a 20-year-old Fort Hood soldier killed himself as law enforcement approached Tuesday night and a second person, a civilian, is now in the custody of the Texas Rangers and awaiting charges as the investigation into human remains found on the post continues, officials with the base say.

The unnamed soldier, officials said, was wanted in connection with the disappearance of Pfc. Vanessa Guillen, who was last seen April 22 in a parking lot outside her Regimental Engineer Squadron Headquarters. Her car keys, barracks room key, ID card and wallet were found in the room where she was working the day she disappeared.

Wednesday morning, officials at the Fort Hood confirmed they were attempting to locate an unnamed junior soldier who left the post late Tuesday and that as law enforcement officers approached him he reportedly pulled out a gun and killed himself.

Yep

Her Sgt., Aaron David Robinson shot himself when the cops came for him. Command Sgt. Aaron Wheeler and his estranged wife are suspects. Mrs. Wheeler is in custody.

It would appear that the unit first Sgt and his wife were involved in trying to cover up for dimwit Sgt Aaron Robinson.

What a mess. Another reason to not recommend the armed forces to decent young people.

I dont get why any woman would want to join the military. I expressed my concern about sexual harassment when my friend’s daughter was accepted at West Point. Beautiful, intelligent, Athlete. How are those guys going to leave her alone. Fortunately she is almost done.

From what I’ve been told or read, the women in officers rank don’t have the problem as enlisted women do.

This at the end of the article is a little weird:

SUICIDE PREVENTION HELP: The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (800-273-8255) is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Are they suggesting that he should have called this number before saving us the trouble and expense by ridding himself?

What is a “Command Sergeant?”

While Command Sergeant Major is a proper title, Command Sergeant could be an informal title in a small Army unit. We have a similar case in my Navy with “Leading Petty (enlisted sailor) Officer” where the unit does not have a Chief.

Just a guess.

My sisters were in the army in the late 70s and 80s and while the wild one was never short of offers for dates, and the more religious one ended up with an asshole for a husband right before retirement, they never had any problems either here in the States, or in Germany, or later in the Reserves. We had brothers so maybe growing up with brothers gives a girl a little different demeanor that wards off the interest of potential violent creeps.

I think there are certain characteristics that rapists and psychos are attracted to - perhaps they’re drawn to fear or nervousness - that don’t necessarily have to do with the victim’s looks, dress or age. Such creeps thrive off the victim’s fear and humiliation, and off the adrenaline from violence, more than the sex act itself, a thrill that they cannot get when sex is consensual.

20+ years at FR and that's one of the stupidest things I've ever read here.

What did I win?

Look, so far as i'm concerned, the vast majority of women in the armed services are nothing but a big social program, and only serve to create a greatly weakened war fighting system.

It is just nonsense that people keep pretending that the girls are the equal of boys in dishing out violence. They aren't. If we believe in reality, we ought to be willing to speak the truth on the matter.

The top five percent of females can successfully compete with the bottom 20% of males, so why do we even bother?

Virtue signaling and social programs. That's it. People are thus willing to degrade the primary mission of winning so that liberals can feel good about themselves and their support of "equality" that isn't really equal.

More "Emperor's new clothes" stuff.

Awful post. What if that was your daughter?

I'd tell her she doesn't belong there. Some people prefer to believe a beautiful theory rather than an ugly reality.

This idea that women should be "warriors" is just more stupid liberal ideology crap.

Patricia Schroeder started this crap, and Bill Clinton helped it along. If these people are for it, common sense ought to tell you that rational people would be against it.

So do you call the previous murder victim, Gregory Morales, “little boy”? And if so would you also do so if he was Anglo-Saxon instead of Hispanic?

And would you do me the favor of when the bars reopen, going to one frequented by enlisted personnel, and yelling that they are all “little boys and little girls”?

A young womans dead and you joke about it. The military accepted her. Then they should have protected her.

I suppose you could be right.Although I never ran across this during my stellar (cough, cough, choke) Army career that doesn’t mean it’s not used..informally at least.
