A suspect in the disappearance of a 20-year-old Fort Hood soldier killed himself as law enforcement approached Tuesday night and a second person, a civilian, is now in the custody of the Texas Rangers and awaiting charges as the investigation into human remains found on the post continues, officials with the base say.

The unnamed soldier, officials said, was wanted in connection with the disappearance of Pfc. Vanessa Guillen, who was last seen April 22 in a parking lot outside her Regimental Engineer Squadron Headquarters. Her car keys, barracks room key, ID card and wallet were found in the room where she was working the day she disappeared.

Wednesday morning, officials at the Fort Hood confirmed they were attempting to locate an unnamed junior soldier who left the post late Tuesday and that as law enforcement officers approached him he reportedly pulled out a gun and killed himself.

I'm not excusing her superiors by any means.....after all she's dead. But I gotta say the military hierarchy has missed things before because you're still dealing with people not robots. I don't know if you ever saw the Interrogation of former Col. Russell Williams - The Confession - the fifth estate.......Though Canadian he had everybody fooled.....and the Commanders were so troubled that they missed he was a serial killer.

The story and Interrogation is mesmerizing, I stayed up almost all night because it's a can't stop watching story.

Well worth the watch as other Freepers will attest to.

Look, so far as i'm concerned, the vast majority of women in the armed services are nothing but a big social program, and only serve to create a greatly weakened war fighting system.

Were you ever in the military?

Allow me to interrupt the stupid flame war for some new info. Vanessa's older sister had met Robinson, said the guy had a creep vibe about him and at this point is not surprised that he would be a suspect in her disappearance if not murder. Robinson had deliberately walked in on Vanessa while she was taking a shower, so he is definitely one of the sexual harassers they had been talking about.

That's totally irrelevant to the issue at hand. If a boyscout is molested by a gay scout master, my issue is with the policy makers at BSA, and I would not hurl any smears at the victimized scout.

I would hurl plenty at any guardian stupid enough to allow him to be in such an outfit.

You may disagree with women in any role in the military, but either you're too simple minded or too cowardly to speak against the policy makers that permitted it and jumped into blame and belittle the victim mode from the outset of this thread.

Dude, i've been speaking against this since Patricia Schroeder first dragged out this stupid idea. Phyllis Schlafly used to tear her a new one on the issue.

I am a former military police officer. The military police corps exists, largely in part because soldier misconduct exists. I've seen violence done by male on male soldiers, female on male soldiers and male on female soldiers. None of it, when unprovoked, is excusable, nor the fault of the victim.

How well did the Female MPs do? Did you have to protect them? Or is this a subject you would rather not discuss?

He would say, “Yes I do. You are correct in almost all you say and I agree with you on most of it. However, I have too much behind me and not enough ahead to become too wrapped up in it even if I thought I could do a thing to change the outcome we see racing to meet us.” Then he would want to go for a walk or some other diversion to make the most and most pleasant of our short time together.

God how I miss that man!

He sounds very wise.

I am approaching that age when he began to say these things to me. I am seeing more behind me than ahead. I will not give up but will do my best with what I can and endure what I can’t change as long as I need to somehow.

There go we all eventually brother. I am not so far behind you.

To your note on the ills of prosperity, yes. My son notes this frequently as well. No hard choices, no crucibles, no really bad consequences.

Exactly right. I've heard it put this way. "Bad times make good people. Good times make bad people."

I don't answer questions about me. I don't talk about my career, where I live, how many members are in my family, what religion I am, or anything of that nature.

I've been on the receiving end of left wing arson in the past, so I try to not give them any clues to zero in on identifying me.

I think that was stupid, because it introduced the idea of a consensual sexual relationship within sleeping quarters.

If your argument was that putting men and women together in combat is a mistake because men and women will give into the temptation to have consensual sexual relationships that will damage unit cohesion, I’m right there with you.

It was when you seemed to argue that it tempted men to commit murder, that I thought you went overboard.

You and I appear to have very different ideas about what constitutes "evil."

I think weakening our military by playing affirmative action social experiments on it is evil.

I'd happily discuss my female MPs. Overseas in the ROK, mine were invaluable. MPs, by nature, have a lot more contact with the public than most other soldiers in the performance of their duties. It was much preferable that a female MP interact with a Korean female than a male MP in a trespassing incident, motor vheicle accident etc. Their mere presence of a female MP probably preempted a few minor international incidents. I had one female MP that regularly volunteered for town patrol with the KNP. Why? She liked to brawl. Did I have to protect them? As a company commander it was my responsibility to do everything in my power to protect all my soldiers.

Did I have some female soldiers that underperformed? Sure did. I had males that underperformed as well.

You are wasting your time on that nutless wonder.

He doesn't want anything except to hope to cause trouble, and in the process enough light to locate his non-existent stubby.

You're wrong. We completely agree on that.

Say that next time, instead of pissing on someone's bones.

You're first post was inexcusable and demonic.

I think that was stupid, because it introduced the idea of a consensual sexual relationship within sleeping quarters.

"Boys" cannot consent. It is illegal to have a "sexual" relationship with boys, as in "Boy Scouts."

Allowing gay scoutmasters is just asking for boys to be raped by perverts. And indeed, that is exactly what happened. Incidents of sexual assaults skyrocketed under the new "woke" boy scouts.

If your argument was that putting men and women together in combat is a mistake because men and women will give into the temptation to have consensual sexual relationships that will damage unit cohesion, I’m right there with you.

That is a secondary aspect of my argument. The primary aspect of my argument is that women will cost the unit more than they will gain from having them. Women can't "hump" their packs like men. They don't have the endurance and they don't have the physique for it. There have been cases of women dislocating their pelvis during marches carrying heavy packs. Their bones and musculature cannot take the sort of pounding a fighting soldier needs to endure.

Additionally there is the problem of men feeling the need to protect them. This I am told is the primary reason Israel avoids women in combat troops. The men kept getting killed trying to protect the women. You also get the issues of jealousy ruining unit cohesion.

Say Sam fancies Sarah, but Sarah fancies Bob, and so maybe Sam is a little slow to help Bob in a fire fight, or even deliberately endangers Bob.

The military does not need this sort of sh*t.

It was when you seemed to argue that it tempted men to commit murder, that I thought you went overboard.

No, that is not what I meant. That is an extreme case. Regular sexual harassment and fraternization is not.

Suppose a woman sleeps with the Sargent. What does this do to Unit cohesion? Does the Sargent favor her because he sleeps with her?

This whole idea is six ways stupid.

Ironically, social media is quickly developing into a minefield. You see young people at the start of their careers fired or passed over for stupid or ultimately embarrassing-but-inconsequential things they say/ post/ share off the cuff on some platform.

Conservative-minded people are being stifled just for politely engaging and having a different opinion from f-bomb throwing liberals.

Yup, glad not to e in the workforce any longer but pity the poor folks who still are. Especially decent white men trying to raise a family.

It was much preferable that a female MP interact with a Korean female than a male MP in a trespassing incident, motor vheicle accident etc.

And for this reason it is useful to have female cops. Some of these types of jobs are better done by females. By all means, for jobs at which they are the superior choice, they should be chosen, but the average war fighting grunt isn't one of them.

had one female MP that regularly volunteered for town patrol with the KNP. Why? She liked to brawl.

Did she happen to be a bit larger than the average female? :)

As a company commander it was my responsibility to do everything in my power to protect all my soldiers.

I think you are being a bit cagey in your response here. I think you know I mean in the @$$ whupping category. Did you have to provide extra protection in such incidents? Did you make an effort to avoid letting them get into such circumstances?

Did I have some female soldiers that underperformed? Sure did. I had males that underperformed as well.

Males MPs fight the female MPs. Who wins?

This is how you would determine who would be the best warfighters.
