Michigan Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib's claim that Detroit Police Department officers abused peaceful protesters is "totally inaccurate," Detroit Police Chief James Craig remarked Tuesday.
~snip~
"I know that the congresswoman is making claims that they were peacefully marching when we intersected and intentionally hit peaceful protesters. [That is] not the case," the chief added.
"They [surrounded] the vehicle, they began to pelt the vehicle not just one of our police cruisers but two of them and in one instance the rear window of one of our SUVs was broken out. And, the information I got from the officer in that vehicle was that he thought he was being shot at."
Craig told Bream that in reviewing videos of the incident, the "vast majority" of the city's community supports his department.
"Twenty to 30 were very agitated, escalated to anger, and then violence. They jumped on the hood. They began to pelt the car. The officers feared for their safety. And they had to do only one thing: they needed to get out of harm's way and they did that," he stated.

The “demonstration” was “mostly peaceful.”
It is a violent kidnapping.
DPD , do your State a favor. Look the other way
There needs to be a statement or law passed about the issue of rioters surrounding vehicles. Think Reginald Denny or the man in Provo Utah. A motorist is minding his own business when an illegal mob rushes / surrounds the vehicle entrapping it and the people inside. When the motorist attempts to leave, they are accused of assault. If they don’t leave, they get dragged out of the vehicle or even shot while in the vehicle. Same with these police officers.
Needs to be a law like stand your ground. Illegal assembly blocking the road, motorist has every legal right to use whatever means necessary to leave the scene without fear of the police arresting them later and a prosecutor making charges.
Yep, I don’t consider assaulting police officers peaceful conduct.
The media believes that is the definition of "peaceful". So if they can't even be accurate about the obvious, are thy accurate about anything? The answer of course is no, they ae fake corrupt news, er activists.
i would like a “mostly peaceful” scotch and ice, and hold the ice
Loosely translated, Shes a lying b . . . .
Absolutely, of course it’s no surprise that they consider lying is okay.
Mostly peaceful rioters and looters.

Occurred to me: BLM axiomatically does not consider crime a thing.
Consequence: protestors are by (their) definition peaceful - even when looting & torching uninvolved private property. Violent felonies simply do not register in their minds as crime.
Anecdotal proof:
A guy drives drunk blowing >0.2 to the point of passing out at a drive thru, resisted arrest, shoots at cops, and his gf burns down a restaurant. BLM response is so what? wouldnt you or your relatives?
A guy is stoned (likely terminally), passes counterfeit money, and resist arrest. BLM response is to utterly ignore that, martyring him because a cop contributed to his expiration from lethal overdose.
A guy trespassing with makeshift drugs is confronted, nearly beats other guy to death. BLM response is to martyr him when terminally stopped.
Hundreds of blacks are killed each weekend in major cities. BLM response is absolute silence.
Explains a lot.
Rashida Tlaib is one of the biggest pieces of cr@p in Congress.
Actually, the leftie tactic is not to respond to those types of things. The media isn’t going to cover it, so it loses air very quickly.
HOORAY James Craig. He’s a very good police chief.
It is in Mogadishu....
I talked about this with a teen daughter. If I am driving alone I would probably take the beating and trust God. If I have family in the car I might step on the gas and explain to the court later.
Jumping up and down on them, breaking windows while making vile threats against the driver sure sounds peaceful to me. Is that wrong?
