Some GOP operatives are wondering if the president could drop out of the presidential race if his poll numbers don't improve.
A stretch of lackluster polling for President Trump has some Republican operatives nervous about the president’s reelection prospects in November – with some even floating the possibility for the first time that Trump could drop out if his poll numbers don’t rebound.
“It’s too early, but if the polls continue to worsen, you can see a scenario where he drops out,” one GOP operative who asked to remain anonymous told Fox News.
Trump’s poll numbers in recent weeks have trended downward amid criticism over his administration’s handling of the coronavirus epidemic and the White House response to the protests and riots following the death of George Floyd in late May while in Minneapolis police custody.
A recent Fox News poll had the president trailing Democrat Joe Biden by 12 points, while a RealClearPolitics average of polls had Trump down almost 10 points to the former vice president. Biden also was leading Trump in many key battleground states, and polls from Republican strongholds such as Texas had Trump and Biden neck-and-neck.

Trump has gotten more votes in an uncontested primary than any other presidential candidate. I’m not saying he is going to 100% win but its not like he’s unpopular with republicans.

Here is the thing, according to Fox polls POTUS has NEVER had a good approval rating or polled well. NEVER!
He hasn’t come out strongly enough, but of course, part of that is the media, which doesn’t report anything he does or says.
That said, I have heard from several very pro-Trump friends that they are waiting for leadership. Not just tweets, but actual addresses from the Oval Office or some other “official” location of American power, not talking about himself and his peeves, but about the United States, this ongoing anarchist/Marxist attack that has taken advantage of the “shutdown” and then tell his vision of the future.
He has to take responsibility for the shutdown and say he made one of the biggest mistakes in the history of the world by letting Fauci take over - and then tell us how he’s going to get us out of this pit. That’s the only way he’s going to win.
