SEATTLE/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Pilots and test crew members from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and Boeing Co are slated to begin a three-day certification test campaign for the 737 MAX on Monday, people familiar with the matter told Reuters.

#8 that will still be an upgrade and not listed in the manual.
But there’s no overhead rack for that aisle seat!
“Its one thing to show on paper that the plane is safe to fly.”
The plane was safe to fly before.
“How many fliers would actually be willing to set foot inside a 737max again ?”
I don’t know. People are easily scared by the media.
What's your vector victor?
I hope they trashed the cheap Indian software and actually got trained and experienced Americans to create it.
Trouble is, it was a safety system that caused the problems.
Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?
The fish won’t be a problem cause they only serve peanuts or pretzels on flights these days.
Peanuts have been gone.
Everyone under the flight path - RUN!!
“The plane was safe to fly before.”
Not what the passengers on the two that crashed would say. No wait, they can’t talk.

...
People killed in car wrecks can’t talk either.
Do you have any other wise ass replies?
“The plane was safe to fly before.”
No, it wasn’t. It had a serious software defect that could point the nose down. It is why they corrected that defect.
Yes, but car wrecks are almost always caused by driver error. The 737Max had a faulty MCAS. Actually it was a design compromise which made an MCAS necessary to have in the first place.
FAA should send some programming experts to make sure they didn’t just diable the automatic crash feature for the tests.
I’ll still be looking for Airbus alternatives for the near future.
The poorly written code and the undocumented features were only part of the problems found with the MAX. But as long as execs get their bonuses, who cares what happens later.
“How many fliers would actually be willing to set foot inside a 737max again ?”
how many airlines are going to be willing to buy it?
The 737 Max was safer than driving a car per passenger mile traveled, especially in the United States. A safe plane is being made safer, but Boeing will now have to design their aircraft like Airbus does to be flown by unsafe pilots.
Neither flight crew should have allowed their planes to crash. They were low quality pilots flying in perfect daylight weather.
Holding the trim wheel, using the electric trim on the yoke, keeping the throttles set correctly, disabling automatic trim, or keeping the flaps extended while the stick shaker was activated: any of the previous would have prevented the crashes.

...
So are plane crashes, including the 737 Max crashes. Not every fault on an aircraft should lead to a crash. That’s why well trained and tested pilots should be used. (See my reply to CodeToad above.)
Even with the two crashes, the 737 was still safer than riding in a car per passenger mile traveled. In the United States where pilots are better trained and planes are better maintained the fatality rate for the 737 Max was zero.
