WENTWORTH — As Rockingham County’s reported COVID-19 cases jumped by 13.5% in three days, Sheriff Sam Page announced on Friday that he will not enforce Gov. Roy Cooper’s executive order requiring citizens to wear masks in public.
Page further said he will not enforce crowd limits on wedding receptions, despite the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services’ opinion that such events should be limited.
Though the state doesn’t limit the number of people who can attend a wedding or funeral, it doesn’t list receptions as part of the exemption to its mass-gathering limits.
The state allows no more than 10 people to gather together indoors and no more than 25 to congregate outdoors, as part of the state’s Phase Two reopening plan.
“Marriage is covered under the religious exemption (a protection under the First Amendment). Wedding reception is part of the ceremony … We will not be enforcing the gathering limits for wedding receptions as a result,’’ said Sgt. Kevin Suthard, public information officer for the sheriff’s office.

I just drove through Leon County, Fl. Masks are mandatory outside. I saw a couple of people on the sidewalk where it is already pushing 90. They were wearing their masks across their chin.

13% in 72 hours? The numbers jump around a lot more than that every day. 13% has to be lost in the noise.

So, their statements are useless either way.
Some may be reopening but the more vulnerable who the protestors passed it on to should begin showing up bout now through the next month.
What they are doing now is testing everybody who comes in, that is people who are asymptomatic but just curious, or people admitted to hospitals for routine surgery who are now required to be tested even though they have no symptoms. So the number of tests have not necessarily risen, now that people who had or thought they have symptoms have declined, but the breadth of the testing has expanded.
So this means that many, many people have had it...and most of them didn’t even know it. So what is the reason for panic?
Control. It’s all about suppression and control.
These communist governors blew their credibility when they and ‘public health cronies’, encouraged mass protests, looting, riots, and general mayhem.
To add, it is extremely unlikely that any new science would arise in such a short time frame that would cause the reversal. Only political pressure, as in “your statement does not support our agenda,” would cause such a sudden change in position. Well, either that or rank incompetence.
