To find out how willing liberal Americans are to jettison the country’s cultural identity, I decided to ask what I thought were outlandish questions,' writes the survey author. 'The answers I received amazed me.'
Seventy percent of self-identified “liberals” want to rewrite the U.S. Constitution “to a new American constitution that better reflects our diversity as a people,” according to survey results published in Quillette this week. Seventy-nine percent of self-identified “very liberal” respondents agreed with this suggestion.
Seventy-six and 81 percent of “liberal” and “very liberal” respondents supported the idea to “Rebalance the art shown in museums across the country until an analysis of content shows that it reflects the demography of the population and perspective of Native people and citizens of color.” Seventy-one and 80 percent of these groups, respectively, supported this idea: “Move, after public consultation, to a new American anthem that better reflects our diversity as a people.”
These were the cultural upheavals that received the highest support among the survey’s 16 suggested options, but liberals in the survey also supported many others. The survey was run by Eric Kaufmann, a professor of politics at Birkbeck College in the University of London, and administered to 870 Americans recruited from the Amazon Mechanical Turk and Prolific Academic platforms that researchers frequently use for such surveys.
“In order to find out how willing liberal Americans are to jettison the country’s cultural identity, I decided, on May 7th, to ask what I thought were outlandish questions…” he wrote. “The answers I received amazed me. I then repeated the exercise on June 15th, after the George Floyd killing and subsequent protests to see whether things had gotten even crazier. It turns out they have.”
“Respondents on these platforms lean young, liberal, and white,” Kaufmann noted, but he wanted that, as these groups are the most politically extreme. After getting the survey results, he focused on the 414 respondents who identified themselves as “liberal” or “very liberal.”
He had asked them to disagree or agree with 16 questions that aimed to gauge support for “a radical blow to American cultural nationhood.” Besides the three mentioned above, the next most supported changes were, in order:
"Rewriting the Constitution" got nothing to do with Art V.
Art V is all about the current Constitution. It's all about amendments to that Constitution. Advantage Conservatives here. Various reasons, chief among them is one-state one-vote.
The left nutjobs in the article are talking about a Constitutional Convention - NOT an Amendments Convention (Art V).
The JBS and the like talk about how dangerous a so-called "con-con" would be. They are exactly correct, and the left would take full advantage of a con-con, or Constitutional Convention.
Luckily for those of us determined to *LIMIT* the current federal leviathan, an Art V or Amendments convention would be limited to proposing (not passing or ratifying) amendments to limit the current run-away Congress, and their misuse of our Framed Constitution. A "rewrite" is completely out of scope, and verbotten.

The article interviews a gun shop employee ....” A young liberal said “ I know now why we have the 2nd amendment...”! ...huge shortages reported on the Internet, and my area. I visited the three gun shop owners I know, they have limited all ammo to two boxes, they are running out of popular calibers, AND all three got notice of a 25 percent increase from their distributor on July 1st. They were also told to expect “ extreme” shortages thru the year’s end. My best buddy dealer did let me have a case of 9mm for past owed favors.....
So they pick one with the most conservative president and movement in decades?

You may be joking, but I'll tell you what. I went to an AFL-CIO gathering in WV. about 25 years ago and there was commies everywhere handing out literature, fliers and such... I was surprised to say the least.. I suppose I use to be....easy. :(

We may be hopelessly Balkanized and demotivated at this point. It may even take the rise of the identarians or ethnonationalists to mainstream politics to rekindle the Right. The Left already have theirs and they are not ashamed to proclaim their identity very loudly, while we virtue signal and cower. That cure may be like a round of strong chemo, almost as bad as the disease itself. It may even prove the idea of a “proposition nation” as it was founded, totally unworkable. The brutal truth is, tribalism works, as it has for the past 4000 years. It is a very basic, primeval mechanism. All attempts to replace it seem to lead to globalism or globalism lite.
Old school American conservatism is dead, after being defanged of not-so savory (but yet so necessary “extremists”) by W. F. Buckley. It could not even conserve the ladies room for ladies use.
Mainstream conservatives have jobs, mortgages and are afraid of a simple assault conviction, that could ruin their life and their family. How many Karens will stand behind their husbands if they lose their job and put the middle class lifestyle in jeopardy?

thats because in europe they follow the basis that if something is not explicitly permitted, it is forbidden. in america, our laws have been written such that if something isn’t explicitly fobidden, it’s permitted.
you can see that european law, the govt has way more power to control people, you have to get approval to take a dump.
they basically want to replace our govt, that has limited power, to a govt with all the approval/disapproval power over everyone.

True, Poland, Hungary, a few others are monoethnic “blood and soil” holdouts. But for how long? If the West falls, how long will they be able to resist the mounting economic and even military pressure?
The future is big tech, big data and a globalist surveillance state. I do not see any organized push in the other direction. Trump is only suggesting to oppose it, and they are ready to burn our country down to stop him.
Even that may be better than just giving up.
