A Latino “protester” broke a loudspeaker over the head of a senior citizen during a scuffle over the removal of a Christopher Columbus statue in Wooster Square Park in New Haven, Connecticut.
Police intervened to deescalate the situation after “protesters” clashed with members of the Italian-American Heritage Foundation, who were protesting the removal of the statue.

Ironically, a police officer eventually intervened to protect the Latino assailant from the angry crowd after he assaulted the senior citizen.
One man in the crowd yells at the attacker as he cowers behind the police officer: “Now you want the cops! NOW you want them, huh?”

Latinos are considered “white” in crime stats when they commit crimes, but they revert to minority status when they’re victims of crimes.
Statue of Columbus ... New Haven is the home for the Knights of Columbus. These are likely fellow Knights.

I wonder if the old Italian guy has any relatives who belong to a social club in NYC or Boston. The protestor who hit him might soon get a visit.
Why was he not arrested for assault?

Guess he’s a liberal and therefore knows nothing about history.
Especially the history of Spain.
The protestor’s time is coming.
And it will NOT be a nice time.

Was the guy arrested and charged with assault?
He should have been.
Why wasn’t he arrested for assault, booked and a public record of his identity made?
The police protect the punk, but what about the guy who was assaulted? The punk should be charged with assault.
The cop should have stepped back and let the crowd punk the punk. Or is it only people of color who are allowed to do whatever they want?

It’s not just old people. People like me are willing to employ an equalizer against a dangerous enemy if neccessary.
That was pretty bad. Provocateur. Deliberate attempt to provoke violence. They sure are trying aren’t they. If that had been a white guy hitting a black or Hispanic, the police would NOT have been able to hold the crowd back from attacking.
