UK tries to lure the tech talent that Trump blocked from the US
CNBC ^ | 24 June 2020 | Sam Shead

The U.K. tech sector is trying to encourage entrepreneurs affected by President Donald Trump’s immigration restrictions to move to the U.K. and start a company in a city like London..."Relocating to an EU member state would be the smarter move," said pro-EU campaigner Richard Scott on Twitter. "Citizenship grants you Freedom of Movement in 27 countries, allowing you and your children to study, work, start a business and retire wherever you like."

HAHAHA! That is what I really like to see on a job description I may be interested in. :)

I have strengths and I have weaknesses, and I enjoy when the job plays to my strengths.

Outsourcing for us was an unmitigated disaster. It's been so bad our internal business partners asked us to re-insource starting last December. You can imagine how difficult that's been in a Chinese Virus addled world. Even still, our operational reliability has already dramatically improved, our change-control windows are met for the first time in three years and the number of "red" downtime incidents were cut by 2/3rds.

Yep, our business partners see the difference between cheap Indian IT outsourcing and good old fashioned American intelligence and diligence.

How were the bean-counters persuaded to allow re-insourcing to happen?

I'm so glad you asked that question! The "savings" that were supposed to be obtained never materialized and our costs actually went UP with outsourcing, not down.

Funny how that happens.

Wow. Many (and its a lot) of the software engineering positions listed on LinkedIn “are no longer accepting applicants” Something I’ve NEVER seen before.

So I’m guessing these positions were just listed as a scam to bring Indian H1Bs into the country.

The dalit trash on Free Republic - you know who you are - are crying.

“No longer accepting applications” is common on LinkedIn. Our Dalit friends have nothing to do with job postings expiring on LinkedIn.

Usually, expired LinkedIn postings get extended or replaced. If Tech hiring has stopped, there’s no reason to repost job openings.

My thinking is these listings were just there to justify the need for Indian H1Bs so Americans can apply, be deemed no qualified, and this proof be used in “justifying” no qualified American applications. Similar to Dalit email-based recruiters. Hence the absolute requirement of Americans to submit their CV over and over again.

Hiring is broken.

I’ve seen job openings posted for up to 4 1/2 years. Job openings that never go away. Companies looking for the perfect candidate, willing to tolerate a dismal Downtown commute to a dismal open-plan office.

I’ve started to consider Downtown offices to be a subtle form of age discrimination.

Our Dalit friends are never involved in this hiring. On occasion, a Dalit may find these openings. The Dalits get nowhere when throwing bodies at these openings.

I don’t think the jobs are there. Openings have been frozen or cut. Your hiring window, if you can find something, is between now and Halloween. Once you get to Halloween, hiring slows until January.

For Boston, I have a pre-virus list of about 100 employers looking for iOS Developers, for up to 130 openings. I know of only one person who was hired for these openings, based on a LinkedIn posting that floated by.

I should rework my list, just to see how bad things are.

You two have become the enemy. Sniping from the back row of the peanut gallery is a positively left wing action.

Hey bert ! Do you know that you are one fine specimen of POS.
