On the anniversary of Title IX, are women's sports in jeopardy?
The Hill ^ | 06/23/20 | Jennifer C. Braceras

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova, the winner of 18 Grand Slam singles titles, has noted that, when it comes to competitive athletics, “sex segregation is the only way to achieve equality for girls and women.” That is because, on average, males are stronger, faster, and more powerful than females.

And, yet, with the stroke of a pen, the United States Supreme Court last week called into question the legality of all sex-specific athletic teams.

...

Many civil rights activists cheered the holding as a victory for the LGBTQ+ community. And, indeed, it is.

...

Suppose, for example, a male student fails to make the men’s college lacrosse team but then tries out for the women’s team and demonstrates that he is a better player than any of the female players. The coach of the women’s team can only deny that player a roster spot if she considers the player’s sex. In this case, the player would be placed on the team but-for his sex. This is exactly what Justice Gorsuch says federal sex discrimination law forbids.

So what is to stop a male student, armed with the Supreme Court’s ruling in Bostock, from claiming the right to try for a spot (and, potentially, a scholarship) on a women’s team? Absolutely nothing.

...

biological females will lose spots on athletic teams with limited rosters. In head-to-head competitions, female athletes will lose to male-bodied athletes most of the time. This is not an equal opportunity. This is male dominance.

...

Today, thanks to Justice Gorsuch, the threat to women’s sports is far greater than most people could have possibly imagined.

In fact, it is quite possible that the Court’s Bostock ruling will pave the way for the elimination of sex-segregated sport altogether.

Women, womyn, “women (XY)”.

It depends on what the definition of women is, to paraphrase BJ Clinton.

This is what women voted for. This is what they get.

Absolutely, positively correct! The womyn mind set, flying in the face of the evil male patriarchy, has voted for this liberal leftist progression because: kittens, vegans, tea, Starbucks, pussy hats and LGBQT.

Congratulations, womyn. When this society that you hate so much collapses from your civilized influence, you will get to revel in barbarism. Enjoy.

Yes. And when you think about it, women's sports is the epitome of "segregation" by any legal measure. I'm surprised it has lasted this long without being challenged and eliminated.

This is a pathetic statement that actually demonstrates that equality is a delusional pipe-dream.

After what happened at a recent UCI Masters World Track Cycling Championship, I am now completely against women’s sports.

Title IX should be eliminated. It is noting but a Leftist wet dream to recreate the world in their vision...not as it exists.

Without Title IX, there would be very little woman's sports in college. Nobody cares about woman's sports. It is not self sustaining, like the men's scholarship sports. You have female athletes on full-ride scholarships. Who is paying for this? They other students who are attending college.

The same thing with woman engineers. Very few women want to be engineers. But, colleges are handing out full scholarships to whatever woman wants to earn that degree. And companies are tripping over themselves to hire women, not for their ability, but to prove to the government that there is diversity.

Most of the problems in the US and around the world today are created by governments that try to rewrite the laws of nature.

Those women fighting movies are so realistic. A slim bodied female taking down a hunk of a man with nary a bruise or contusion to show for it.

I thought for many of my younger years you could have a fistfight and only show a minor bloody lip and intact knuckles. John Wayne must have been one tough fella.

I work in electrical utility distribution design.
Women and minorities can fly up the ranks without even being competent.
Two of the women in my group speak Arabic, and one female speaks Russian.
I don’t know if they are even US citizens.
I’d ask, but my Honky ass would get fired.

Ummm. No they did not. The majority opinion was very narrow and specific that they were not talking about bathrooms or sports. The question at hand was Title 7 employment and whether you can fire someone only for being lgbtqvwxyz. This is fake news to inflame passions.

There was a top ranked woman tennis player married to a pro male tennis player ranked aroud 150th. I think it was Chris Evert and John Lloyd. She said he had to hold back to make their matches competitive when they played against each other. So 150th best male tennis player could easily beat one of the best women.

And Bobby Riggs threw that match against Billie Jean King.

Did Martina write that in her book, "How To Lick Your Opponent"?

Over the years, rumours circulated that Riggs—who was said to have had a large gambling debt to the Mafia and who had just months before the Battle easily dispatched a female player as talented as King—threw the match in order to erase his debt to the mob. A 2013 investigative report by ESPN revealed that there was a witness to a purported meeting of Mafia figures planning to rig the match and there is circumstantial evidence to support the fix theory, but tennis experts remain split as to whether or not the Battle was thrown by Riggs or if he was simply bested by a better and younger player.

It’s an even stronger argument for those women’s sports for which there is no male equivalent; field hockey, softball, etc..

Liberals reap what they sew. And the reaping will hopefully become very painful for them in the near future.

Perhaps, but this is the radical egalitarianism liberals dream of.
