PHOENIX Coronavirus pandemic or not, an investment advisory company is leaving the cultural unrest in Seattle and moving its headquarters to Phoenixs Camelback Corridor.
The unrest that has taken place in the city of Seattle
there is really is not a downtown business community today, Smead Capital Management, President and CEO Cole Smead told KTAR News 92.3 FM.
Smead said that although taxes in Seattle are lower, candidate recruitment is harder and the cost of living within the city is more expensive than Phoenix.
Were hearing rumors of 40-story buildings that will be only 20-percent occupied by October, Smead said.
My biggest concern for Seattle was what the business community is going to come back to, and what kind of businesses are going to come back for customers.

More sunshine that's for certain. But a long way to the shore... Don't worry.. the "Big One" isn't far off for Southern Calif.
Once that happens they'll all be surfing off the coast of Arizona!

It sends the message that they like Washington State but that Seattle is a lost cause. By staying in that area, it helps retain their workers. They're making a clear POLITICAL statement.
They no longer TRUST the political leaders to PROTECT them and to keep law & order.
When you've lost ALL confidence in those things you PULL the PLUG and move on.
This is probably just the beginning of Seattle financially going rapidly BACKWARD.

The company’s actions are those of a rational human being, unlike the mayor et al of Seattle. They’re a bunch of raving lunatics.

My kid has been on business to the Phoenix several times during the past four years. Said because of the weather most of the people stay indoors and are out of shape. Surprising number of unhealthy people there. You are very mistaken.

I get wanting to leave Seattle, but Phoenix? Not exactly stepping up in the world.
Our family moved to Phoenix. We like it very much. No snow. Reasonably priced housing. Reasonable property taxes. Not car hostile (except for the emissions testing). Phenomenal natural wonders only a few hours away in all directions. A convenient airport that flies everywhere. Decent restaurants to cater to every kind of taste and ethnicity. More culturally conservative than most large cities.
For us, it was important that there was a sizable traditional Catholic community and Church, and a good bishop.
Phoenix checked all the boxes, so here we are. If you love snow and four seasons, it may not be for you. If your idea of a great city is its downtown. It also may not be for you.

Compared to WHERE? I have spent a lot of time in CT, NYC, Chicago, Columbus (GA), Rockford (IL), Madison (WI).
Phoenix compares favorably to all except Madison.

Deep, complex pun. Well played, sir.
Me: Born and raised in Arizona; BA - History, University of Washington 1978.
Thought I would go nuts from all the rain the first year I attended the UW. (Especially during the perpetually gloomy, damp cold winter months.) But then I “adjusted,” and everything was ... fine.
