Andrew Jackson was a total jerk, the Bolton of his age. He hated Indians, blacks, Spaniards and Catholics. But still, he was the 7th president of the US, first Territorial Governor of Florida (and founder of the Democratic Pary in 1828) and most of his hideous and vicious policies had already been voted on and approved by the US Congress. Jackson may well have been a total jerk, but I wouldn’t call him that to his face. But to compare him to Bolton? In your list of those he hated, you left out the English. He hated those he fought against. He certainly wasn’t a 21st century man, but he may have been a man of his time. The elites of his time certainly didn’t like him.
