By an agreement brokered back in 1964, no firearms are allowed in the zone close to the ceasefire line, but unarmed scouting patrols do take place.
Your post reminded me of the old bit of wisdom most usually attributed to Albert Einstein. It went something like:
“I cannot tell you what sort of weapons will be used to fight the Third World War. I can tell you that the war after it will be fought with sticks and stones.”
Theyve both got nuclear weapons.
So were back to sticks rocks and the like
Go figure
Why didnt either side use guns?
I think both sides know that a fire fight would escalate very quickly drawing in more units on both sides until eventually one side might be tempted to do something stupid.
Hi.
Imho, the Fourth world war will be fought with stones and clubs.
Then one day someone will find an ancient communication device. With stones knives and bear skins they will fashion a nuemonic memory circuit and tap into the computers that were left behind by their ancestors in the Temple ruins.
The AR-15 soon follows...and Semtex too.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
5.56mm
Like cookcounty said,no firearms in the area so as to minimize escalation.
So a good Louisville slugger with razor wire or some such medievel weapon has to do.
Heck, i read that the majority of Indians died of getting thrown off cliffs.
Pretty basic warfare.
That’s how war works.
Nobody does pretty
Also read that an indian officer was pushed off a ledge of a mountain and plunged to his death, don’t know if same guy, in addition others were killed in similar fashion as well as the beat downs
Firearm free zone, both sides honored that
The news about Indian soldiers dying in such a vicious manner, defending their territory has triggered widespread anti-china sentiment in India. There is a lot of political pressure on Modi to not just take it in the chin like what happens usually during Chinese incursions. The Indian government just removed restrictions on responding with arms.
It has been reported that there is unusual air patrol activity on the Chinese side. The Indian airforce has responded also with more air patrols, and moving assets close to the front.
Recently acquired hardware from the United States has also been deployed - Apache helicopters, Chinooks, and the C-130 transport aircraft.
Too bad they did not buy those F-16s and F-18s when they had the chance.
The Man Who Would Be King
bkmk
Bullets are expensive. They needed to cut costs and maybe some throats.
The Man Who Would Be King is the movie they’re talking about. Fabulous flick.
And if you are not loosing are you tightening?
Note to self: Don’t EVER piss off Indian troops from the 16 Bihar regiment!
The Man Who Would Be King
Even unarmed men who fled into the hillsides were hunted down and killed, an unnamed officer was quoted as saying. The dead include men who jumped into the Galwan River in a desperate attempt to escape.
“Have the know it alls at the UN given their opinion about this?”
Yes, they are saying Antifa must have freedom of expression.
