Two-thirds of Black Americans favor renaming Confederate bases
As the country grapples with a widespread reckoning over the prevalence of racism, majorities of Americans are resistant to renaming U.S. military bases that carry the names of Confederate leaders, and are voicing particular opposition to providing descendants of slaves with reparations, according to a new ABC News/Ipsos poll released Friday.
While 56% are opposed to changing U.S. military bases named for Confederate leaders, which stand as a reminder of the nation’s complicated history with race, 42% of Americans support the move.
Nearly three-fourths of Americans believe that the federal government should not provide payments to black Americans whose ancestors were slaves to compensate for the toll of slavery. Only 26% of Americans are in favor of reparations.

The numbers are most likely far worst for the left.
We’re learning that Whites were enslaved in greater numbers than black folks a study now claims-
So when black folks get reparations, who will white folks get reparations from? The black folks who’s ancestors enslaved white folks?
Also- white folks fought and died to free slaves- did it free of charge- well actually it was at great cost to white folks- shall their ancestors now charge for that?
Let the 26% pony up.
In the meantime, I will line up for reparations for my Irish ancestors who were treated for all intents as slaves in America.
For reparations I think the BLM (Bureau of land management) should give BLM (Black lives matter) members each 40 acres and a mule.
I have an idea with respect to reparations, make the Democrats and offer and watch how fast they run away from it....
The offer would be this....
Every African American Child in the USA can go to any public or private school in their city and the taxpayers will pick up the tab....no questions asked, strictly a decision made by a parent...
Sort of a school choice voucher program on steroids...
My goal would be to pit two Democratic groups against each other...
African Americans and the Teachers Union...
We have to live with them. That’s reparations enough.
Also, how about electricity, tv, cars, phones, air travel, computers, satellites,...
That 26% will probably continue to head down when people figure out what it will cost them.
if they can only muster 26% in favor of reparations i this climate, it’ll be less than half that in two weeks.

Really? An Irishman could have his children taken away from him and be sold without his consent?
If an Irishman left his job, he could be hunted down with dogs and whipped?
An Irishman’s boss could sell him to another boss and ship him across the country without his consent?
I am not denigrating how rough Irish immigrants had it, but it was not comparable to slavery.
Just to be clear, I’m talking about the 1850s era, and not when there was indentured servants earlier - although, since this was time limited, still wasn’t as bad as slavery.
If that's the case, then I'm going to self-identify as black as well. 40 acres would be a pretty sweet deal, and I can always eat the mule.

If (yes, that’s a big if) the 1/3 is an indication of Trump support among blacks, then we’re talking disaster for the dems.
It’s like the old adage - is the glass 2/3 empty or 1/3 full?
