WASHINGTON Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement on the Trump Administrations intent to nominate Jay Clayton to be the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
According to Attorney General Barr, the Trump Administration intends to nominate Mr. Jay Clayton to be U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. I have not been contacted by the administration in this regard. However, I know Mr. Clayton and believe him to be a fine man and accomplished lawyer.
As to processing U.S. Attorney nominations, it has always been the policy of the Judiciary Committee to receive blue slips from the home state senators before proceeding to the nomination.
As chairman, I have honored that policy and will continue to do so.

This is how this particular US Attorney has maintained his "temporary position," for his commission is only until the Senate confirms a successor.
So Lindsey allows the democrats of NY to prevent a hearing and a vote, and thus a successor.
It's a neat trick, Lindsey, but we know the game. You don't want the US attorney to be replaced by the executive.
The answer of course is for the DOJ payroll dept. to start paying the new guy, stop paying the old guy and let the old guy battle it out in the courts till the end of the Congress.
Blue state politicians reliably assure only progressives get approval.
Red states, not so much, because their approval must also be approved by the Progressive Media.
They would never give you the same courtesy. What an ass.
God this evil
amnesty monster is back.
Trump supported him
What a total asshole. Letting Schumer control that position.
...it has always been the policy of the Judiciary Committee to receive blue slips from the home state senators...
It's a three-legged race, let's see which of the remaining two shoes drops.
i think we need him
gone at all costs .
He will push thru amnesty
> it has always been the policy of the Judiciary Committee to receive blue slips from the home state senators before proceeding to the nomination <
There must be something wrong with my copy of the Constitution. Maybe a few pages are missing. Because I looked up how federal judges are appointed. And I couldnt find anything about blue slips there.
Why have committee hearings at all? Just ask the Democrat Senators who THEY want!
Graham was, is and always will be nothing but and empty suit. He is all talk and no do. He is one of the ultimate Rhino’s who has pulled the wool over many for years. With spineless people like him in positions of importance we will never see any progress — only empty talk. He is either too stupid to see what the Democrats are or he is a part of the deep state.
Ffire all us attorneys immediately just like bj clinton did
Get out of Trump's way and support him!
Nice knife in Trumps back after his support .
Romney part 2 .
Why would the Rats bother to Blue Slip the guy?
Quid Pro Joementia Biden the groping Pedo is a lock to win the Presidency, right?
Graham needs to be gone, no matter the cost. He is a viper clutched to the breast of the GOP and Conservatives. If there aren’t pictures of him with a goat, it is just because he so loves being a turncoat.
Trump did fire Berman's predecessor and put Berman in the spot.
How often is he going to have to fire his own guys?
You think Trump and Barr didnt know the committee process beforehand?Let this play out. Trump has a temp of his choosing in place, and the Dems continue to look like the obstructionist they are.this is just too obvious to not have been thought out.
Graham was, is and always will be nothing but and empty suit.
Please, dont jump to conclusions. Lets wait till Hannity has him on as a guest to explain everything to us.
