WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today made this statement on the Trump Administration’s intent to nominate Jay Clayton to be the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
“According to Attorney General Barr, the Trump Administration intends to nominate Mr. Jay Clayton to be U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. “I have not been contacted by the administration in this regard. However, I know Mr. Clayton and believe him to be a fine man and accomplished lawyer.
“As to processing U.S. Attorney nominations, it has always been the policy of the Judiciary Committee to receive blue slips from the home state senators before proceeding to the nomination.
“As chairman, I have honored that policy and will continue to do so.”

This is how this particular US Attorney has maintained his "temporary position," for his commission is only until the Senate confirms a successor.
So Lindsey allows the democrats of NY to prevent a hearing and a vote, and thus a successor.
It's a neat trick, Lindsey, but we know the game. You don't want the US attorney to be replaced by the executive.
The answer of course is for the DOJ payroll dept. to start paying the new guy, stop paying the old guy and let the old guy battle it out in the courts till the end of the Congress.
Blue state politicians reliably assure only progressives get approval.
Red states, not so much, because their approval must also be approved by the Progressive Media.

There must be something wrong with my copy of the Constitution. Maybe a few pages are missing. Because I looked up how federal judges are appointed. And I couldn’t find anything about “blue slips” there.

Graham was, is and always will be nothing but and empty suit. He is all talk and no do. He is one of the ultimate Rhino’s who has pulled the wool over many for years.
