They will be arriving in peace, and hoping to carry a message.
Omar Chatman, 41, is one of the organizers for 1,000 brothers and sisters in arms, a pro-Second Amendment walk planned for Saturday led primarily by Black gun owners in Oklahoma.
The demonstration, which will begin at 2 p.m. at Ralph Ellison Memorial Library, is intended to bring attention to the fact that Black Americans constitutional rights to carry firearms are not often respected, Chatman said.
All are welcome to march in solidarity with the group, which expects between 200 and 300 people to attend in what they are saying will be a peaceful mile walk to the Governor's Mansion.
As an African American, its important to send a message to the governor and president that we arent going to allow people to come into our communities and brutalize us, Chatman said. That goes for corrupt police officers, white supremacists and criminals. Criminals have no color. It doesnt matter if you are a Black man, white man, Asian or Hispanic.
If you come into our community, know we are armed.
Many in attendance on Saturday are expected to be openly carrying firearms, which is legal. In Oklahoma, citizens age 21 or older can carry a firearm in public without a permit, and active duty military personnel or veterans age 18 or older are allowed to carry a firearm in public without a permit.
Felons, persons adjudicated with mental illness or those with domestic violence convictions are prohibited from carrying a firearm, according to Oklahomas Constitutional Carry Law, which went into effect in November.
Overall, four in 10 Americans say there is a firearm in their household, according to a 2017 study by Pew Research Center. Broken down by race, 24% of African Americans say they personally own a gun,

As long as you are not White. Only blacks allowed.
They said no such thing.
problem is, they’ll all be in Tulsa for the Trump rally.
Has Oklahoma allowed felons who have satisfied their convictions or punishments to vote?
Fastest growing group of gun owners are blacks. I know many. We need to support and join with all like minded Americans. We will only win this if we do.
and they are demanding the International World Court to investigate the United States for human rights violations of its Black population.
....Which means the organizers' knowledge of the Constitution is either severely limited or else they are deliberately taking advantage of a liberty to undermine the Constitution. [I suspect it's the latter of course.]
Well.... if you read the rest of the article they look less like-minded.
If I were closer (I am in Arizona), I would be at the rally.
The right to keep and bear arms is a fundamentally American right, founded in the idea of limited government.
It is anathema to the leftists concepts being pushed by Antifa and BLM.
We should be doing everything we can to encourage the exercise of Second Amendment rights by everyone, but especially by minorities and women.
American citizens demonstrating their God-given right.
Thats just those who admit it.
Betcha its really a lot higher.
One would expect the organizers to welcome all who support their message...
Good for them.
Though I have to wonder if it would be as well received if a bunch of white people marched to show support for their 2nd amendment rights by stating “Black Supremacists aren’t allowed in our community.”
Yeah, when is the White gun owners march?
I don’t own any black guns...LOL ooooooh the OWNERS of the guns are black. Got it.
Hate to see the reception a declared White gun group would get...ANYWHERE.
"I believe in the 2nd Amendment...it's there...on the paper".
It would certainly put the liberal media in a bind. Black and white gun owners marching arm in arm in solidarity for the 2nd amendment. They couldn't use their usual "racist old white guys holding onto their guns and bibles line" and if they criticized it at all they would risk appearing as anti-black.
An indoor range I occasionally shoot at has a very large black 2A clientele.
I’m always gratified to see that.
