So juneteenth is the day that Texas slaves were freed. Even though that day was actually the emancipation order 6 months earlier or the thirteen amendment 6 months later. Juneteenth is not actually celebrating anything more than Texas slaves being legally freed by a union general, not the state of Texas itself. How did I live 59 years and never hear of this.
Today I celebrated and honored Juneteenth by eating a double cheese burger.
