Gorsuch Takes the Road Less Gaveled
Family Research Council ^ | June 17, 2020 | Tony Perkins

Posted on 06/18/2020 10:29:44 AM PDT by Twotone

...The prematurely gray dad of two kicked off his opening statement talking about his wife and family - joking about his daughters, who were probably out "bathing chickens for the county fair," his extended family and childhood pranks, the values of working hard. Gorsuch thought back to the first time he put on his black robe - how it reminded him of the important job he had to do. He told the senators he didn't realize how big it was until he slipped on it and fell. "Everything went flying," he recalled. Now, three years later, that robe is still tripping him up. But his fall, Americans are finding out, hurts us all.

A lot has changed since Gorsuch's turn in the limelight. The man who insisted, "...Judges would make pretty rotten legislators... You can't get rid of us. It only takes a couple of us to make a decision... It would be a pretty poor way to run a democracy" is now responsible for one of the most activist rulings in U.S. history. The "Young Scalia," as he was nicknamed, who said he learned from Antonin that "words matter - that the judge's job is to follow the words that are in the law" just replaced history's understanding of "sex" with ideas no one in 1964 could have fathomed. If you'd have told people 56 years ago that they were "voting for a bill to equate the situation of transgender people - of whom no one had heard of since the word had not yet found its way into English - with the situation of African-American people," Kevin Williamson argues in NRO, they'd have thought you were crazy.

The man is now an enemy of freedom and the Constitution. All for a few editorials praising his “growth”. He is nothing but a virulent scumbag.

We’re sure living in a weird world right now. I’m so glad I left Seattle for my acreage in Kentucky. It really doesn’t impact me except when I read about it here.

Maybe I should just stop doing that. I’m 66. I probably should just let the kids create the world they want. Kinda like the kids in Russia did in the early 20th century.

"...transgender people - of whom no one had heard of since the word had not yet found its way into English..." As far as I can remember we didn't have a word for them back in the day..maybe cross dressers or just freaks....they were so few at least in the open. Whatever the case, they were just beaten up.😎

I'm just a few years behind you, and 1 state away (Tennessee). I often think the same, then I think that we can teach them. But I do wonder if too many are too far gone to even realize that they're but pawns in the lefts game of destruction of western society.

I'm pretty well armed, and a fairly good shot - I don't think I'm going to go gently into that good night. If it comes to blows, and I sincerely hope it doesn't (regardless of how my inner Bolton feels), I'll be that shadow on the hill, 600 yards away from the commies, doing my part to reduce their numbers.

I can only speculate about what the radical left has on Roberts and Gorsuch. Their job IS THE LAW...not support emotionally-driven liberal crap based on personal feeling.

They have FAILED the country.

GOP appointees are all a crap shoot. They get to DC and get infected with leftism. I guess they love going to good parties and being praised by everyone, it feeds the ego. Regardless, dem judges are all ... ALL ... 100% reliable. GOP it's probably pushing a 50/50 rate. Maybe a little better.

In the 21st century GOP Presidents have appointed Alito, Roberts, Gorsuch, and Kavangagh. Roberts is a worthless tool for the left already. Gorsuch is trending that way. 50/50. In contrast, Obama had Sotomayor and Kagan. Slam dunk leftist vote locked down from those two on every single issue.

He and Roberts make you wonder if they spent half their professional lives putting on an act for the moment when, having achieved power, they can reveal who they really are.

This will go down like Dred Scott or RoevWade as one of the worst decisions in SC history. If this comes to violence, these two will bear the shame of causing it.

I'm 78. living in W.PA and this crap doesn't have and won't have a direct impact on me, but I have grandchildren in their teens and 20s and it will impact them.

I'm at a loss as what to do about so called conservative Justices, in whom we put our trust, only to be betrayed by them.

Maybe, like you, I'll just stop reading and watching any 'news' and just play golf, hunt and fish and drink beer {Yuengling, please or any good lager}.

I hate to quit, but maybe it's the best way for sanity.

The supreme court this week has showed us that elections apparently mean nothing.

Things aren’t so lovely in KY either especially if you are close to Louisville.

I don’t think there’s a lot of question about certain members of the USSC who need to be removed. They will consistently make rotten decisions. The ones who are doing this because of undue outside influence are the most worrisome. Those who are holding this influence over them are the ones most needing severe punishment, possibly including some things that have not been used in this country in a long time. They must be publicly exposed to start with, but that would be just the start. Their deeds affect the entire citizenry.

My father used to be very into political and religious discussions. I’m in Seattle right now because he was getting real verbally inept and, a few days ago he was at the hardware store and, to make a long story short, they had to call the cops because he could not speak or tell anybody where he lived. He’s 90.

He has been living with a golf ball sized tumor in his brain and has just a week or less to live. So here we are.

But my brother (who still lives here) said that for the last six months or so, he could not care less about politics or religion. And I consider that a good thing.

Fact is, each generation has their own cross to bear. Our kids have theirs, and no small number of them want this. Be careful what you wish for.

They are either total frauds or have been intimidated by blackmail. Both are wastes of black robes.

I thought the vote was 6 to 3. looks like we have 5 other enemies as well.

Does anyone know if we have any kind of prayer to overturn this ruling?

“I’m so glad I left Seattle for my acreage in Kentucky.”

We moved onto a small farm in Appalachia some years back. 400 people in our town

Zero diversity..it’s grand. Only lock our doors if we go away. Our barn is full of tools, atv’s, etc. Never had a single thing stolen.Doors wide open. No locks on the barn. We live on a dead end road and everyone is armed to the teeth and everyone keeps an eye out on each others property.

Truly is Shangrila.

Nobody believes in the conservative position. If they say they do chances are they are a crank or like John Roberts who could’t even say the oath correctly, let alone give proper rulings. He doesn’t believe in conservatism and is a phony. He as plastic as they get and probably believes the Constitution is plastic too and to mold how you see fit. He doesn’t fool anybody (except Bush, who was also fooled by Harriet Meir, which says a lot about his swift acumen). Most liberal judges are traitorous bastards judged for the position by other traitorous bastards. Roberts sticks in a lot of Conservatives throats because underneath it all he is a nasty, conceited piece of work. And people sense it. His phoniness is as clear as a summer’s day, and people (even some liberals) are sick to their stomachs. He just keeps on giving the worst decisions. It’s as if he first had to consult a family of drunken clowns just to be sure he’s the right track; as if he was trying for a world record on absolute worst decisions. It’s terrible and it just keeps going and going and going... and people think maybe he’ll slow down on the bad decisions. But NO! There should be some expiry date like on bad milk: “Sorry, sir, that was your two thousand worst decision and we can now remove you from the bench, because the country doesn’t exist anymore due to you.”
