Straight Ahead

Bible in a Year:

He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord . . . , not turning aside to the right or to the left.

2 Kings 22:2

It used to take the steady eye and the firm hand of a farmer to drive a tractor or combine down straight rows. But even the best eyes would overlap rows, and by end of day even the strongest hands would be fatigued. But now there’s autosteer—a GPS-based technology that allows for accuracy to within one inch when planting, cultivating, and spraying. It’s incredibly efficient and hands-free. Just imagine sitting in a mammoth combine and instead of gripping the wheel, you’re gripping a roast beef sandwich. An amazing tool to keep you moving straight ahead.

You may recall the name Josiah. He was crowned king when he was only “eight years old” (2 Kings 22:1). Years later, in his mid-twenties, Hilkiah the high priest found “the Book of the Law” in the temple (v. 8). It was then read to the young king, who tore his robes in sorrow due to his ancestors’ disobedience to God. Josiah set about to do what was “right in the eyes of the Lord” (v. 2). The book became a tool to steer the people so there would be no turning to the right or left. God’s instructions were there to set things straight.

Allowing the Scriptures to guide us day by day keeps our lives in line with knowing God and His will. The Bible is an amazing tool that, if followed, keeps us moving straight ahead.

Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...did you and Penny get in a good walk today? New shoes working well?

Sun hasn’t come out here yet, but the evening is young.

I finally got the boots I needed today. I rode the bike to a DSW and they only had two styles that were sturdy and had good instep and ankle support.

Amid all kinds of hygienic restrictions I selected four pair to try on (two sizes of each style) and found EXACTLY what I wanted.

I threw out my old riding shoes, so now I have the high-tops for riding and the low-tops for casual wear.

I think I may be on the mend!

My foot is tired right now, but not the searing, burning pain that I have been experiencing.

It’s been a three-month odyssey, but I think I am on the other side of it now.

AND...I got some riding in today. Penny doesn’t seem to want to take such long walks as she used to. She seems content to hang out on the couch, or go visiting.

I went on a motorcycle ride today and saw lots of police officers doing traffic details along the road construction sites. I gave them a thumbs up and a smile, and they responded in kind.

Every little bit of encouragement helps.

..are hair cuts legal yet?

No, Emperor Inslee has forbade anyone in his kingdom under penalty of law to get a haircut.

Restaurants are still not open, no small businesses are open either. It's all for the betterment of the cause because 'science and data'.

All Hail His Grandeur and Majesty, thank you for keeping us safe, Governor Inslee!

Good job finding the boots, and hoping the path to less foot pain is in front of you.

Howdy, Kathy.

Believe it or not, it’s been pretty comfy the past few days though a little muggy. We’re sitting under the western edge of the system that’s been soaking the NC coast and the clouds have kept the temps down below 80. No rain though.
But the heat is coming.

We had similar skies today, though we had upper 70s to your lower 60s.

Trying to muster the energy to go out to load the car with what wouldn’t fit last night. There isn’t much but I don’t have much energy right now and I hurt like a train wreck. LOL! SOOOOOOOO much stuff for the rummage sale this year. I just hope we have a huge turnout and sell it all!
