Absolutely not. I would never be a police officer, don’t have the temperament, training, or the desire.
Having said that, does this give that policeman the right to shoot an unarmed man running away from him? I assume he had the temperament, training, and desire.
I get it’s a tough job. If he’s not capable of doing the job correctly, he should take up another line of work.
The entire police force for municipalities inside the United States needs to take a week off.
The choices now are, let the criminal kill you, or the
local DA will do it for them.

Shifting police funding to social services will not solve crime. For decades, New York City was the welfare capital of the United States, spending one-seventh of all government welfare dollars. Crime continued to rise. Crime started falling in the city only when the New York Police Department adopted the data-driven policing that has now become the norm across the country.
But the most urgent task before this committee is to repudiate the narrative that law enforcement is infected by racism. The atmosphere in which officers are working is becoming more vicious and volatile. The attempts on officers’ lives, some successful, that we have seen in the last two weeks will increase. And under the pervasive charge that they are racist, officers will back off of proactive policing in minority neighborhoods. The victims will be overwhelmingly black.
In 2015 and 2016, when officers also retreated to purely reactionary policing, an additional 2,000 black males died, the largest two-year increase in homicide in half a century. Harvard economist Roland Fryer, University of Utah law professor Paul Cassell, and University of Utah economist Richard Fowles have recently documented what I have called the Ferguson Effect: the sharp rise in crime during episodes of pervasive anti-cop rhetoric and depolicing.

They will have trouble getting this conviction. An acquittal will mean more rioting.

First off, the Taser is a one shot weapon. After he shot his load, he’s carrying a small plastic club. He DOES NOT have a lethal weapon anymore. Since the policeman has obviously (at least, I would hope) been trained in Taser use, he knows this.
So, why did he find it necessary to shoot a guy, unarmed, running away from him? My understanding of the ROE for police is that they are only allowed to use lethal force if they are in fear of their life, or to protect the lives of others. He obviously wasn’t in fear for his life. And, don’t give me “by resisting arrest he showed he was a danger to others line”. By that logic every body who ever disagreed with a cop could be shot.
So, did he shoot him just because he was pissed off?
Think the simple truth. It will be illegal to arrest one of the sacred protected class even if they have the blood of a thousand on them.
From a civilian side of things, if you don’t allow the sacred protected to rape, rob, assault or murder you will be an automatic death sentence to be carried out less than 1 hour from arraignment.
Some people still want to help others, and so they chose to
go into law enforcement. I couldn’t do it.
They don’t need a conviction they just need the verdict to be pending before election day so they can milk it for all it’s worth.
I dunno, kneeling seems to be a popular white pastime lately.
Try again. How do you run toward someone in an attack with your back toward your attacker? Of course it can be done, but it sounds so French.

Exactly right. The optics of this case take precedence over the normal agreement that the black community has with law enforcement. Enforcement in the hood is differnet than in other parts of town. That is just the reality. The police and the community both understand this. Its that tacit agreement that informs every contact.
They wanted people to lose jobs and businesses so they could hurt the economy thus helping them in the election, and now they are ruining peoples lives again with this. They only care for their own power and stop us from seeing their corruption.
