Romney didnt win, did he?
That was former Senate Democratic majority leader Harry Reids response to whether he regretted lying about then-GOP presidential nominee and now Utah senator Mitt Romney.
Mr. Reid accused Mr. Romney on the Senate floor in 2012, when he was running for president, of not having paid any taxes in four years. It was absolutely untrue and was discredited by Washington Post fact-checkers and others at the time. But that didnt stop the onslaught of unfair and inaccurate accusations and innuendos.
The Mitt Romney who ran for president in 2012 went on to vote for conviction in President Trumps impeachment trial. And that same Mr. Romney became the first known Republican senator to march with the George Floyd protesters over the weekend.
You remember 2012, right? That was the year of the last presidential election before Donald Trumps victory. And the way liberals attacked Mr. Romneys presidential campaign on opinion pages of newspapers, news broadcasts and in the media echo chamber of blue check-mark Twitter, has a lot to do with how the next election went and how this one will go. Their treatment of Mr. Romney was an inflection point for many on the right.

I do not regret my vote for Mittens. He would have been preferable to the second Hussein term when he really did a bunch of illegal executive actions. We live in a two party system. You choose the candidate closest to your views.
Jonah Goldberg comes to the resuce eight years later.
What a ridiculous little man.
I live in Massachusetts. It was my opinion that he created RomneyCare so he could run for President in 2008, saying, "I fixed healthcare in Massachusetts, I can do it for the nation." But, he didn't get the nomination in 2008.
I felt he used the state as a platform, giving it less and less attention as his term wore on (not that governing a Democratic state isn't disheartening), because his focus was on the 2008 nomination.
Romney was a Man with a Plan. Still is, unfortunately.
Romney had like a 30% approval rating when his term as Governor was over.
And to think his mom Lucianne was once a FR VIP.
Deservedly so.
Part was that the Dem-controlled media and State Congress was non-stop against him because of party loyalty. But another, at least as important part, was that it was obvious he had checked out, didn't give a crap, and was focused on his next goal, the Presidential election.
What useless fkn morons the never-Trumpers have become. Trump has pushed his detractors into self-ruination.
I do not regret my vote for Mittens. He would have been preferable ...
I disagree. The Republican Party desperately needed to be taken away from the cheap-labor-express globalists. They had to be defeated to make way for a nationalist America First agenda. Trumps nomination only became possible because of Romney-Ryans defeat.
Maybe you were comfortable with the preTrump GOP of open borders, offshoring of US jobs, and endless new wars in the Middle East. For me, that was not an option anymore. I couldnt vote for Romney and more of that corrupt globalist GOP agenda. It had to be swept aside for the party to be able to go a different direction.

Forgive me my aging memory, but the article states that Romney was the lone Republican who voted in favor of impeachment. I thought that he voted to hear witnesses (motion defeated) but voted for acquittal on the impeachment charges (motion passed).
Has yet another memory escaped me?
FMR
On second thought FTLOT
He had to be a brain-dead moron to think a leftist Republican politician from Massachusetts had even a chance in hell of winning a national election. If he was running against anyone other than a dopey exchange student from Kenya he would have been lucky to win 100 electoral votes.
No apology could make up for Goldberg’s smug and traitorous idiocy at this point.
Once Candy Crowley saddled and rode him, it was over.
For his next hallow trick will he be admonishing our enforcer media to apologize not just to President Trump but to ALL of us?
Didnt think so
Another classic bore
I didn't vote for the asshole.
Does Jonah realizes how weak and bitchy he sounds?
