Rayshard Brooks went from telling Atlanta officer about visiting mother's grave to being fatally shot: Video

Initial autopsy results say that Brooks died of two gunshot wounds to his back.

Before being shot to death by an Atlanta police officer in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant, Rayshard Brooks had a cordial conversation about being in the area to visit his mother's grave and to celebrate one of his young daughter's birthdays, according to a series of videos released by officials.

The shooting of Brooks, who is black, on Friday night sparked new protests and an arson fire at the Wendy's where the confrontation started and escalated into the use of lethal force. It came on the heels of days of protests in Atlanta and across the nation over the officer-involved killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Initial autopsy results released Sunday evening by the Fulton County Medical Examiner said that Brooks died from two gunshot wounds to his back that "created organ injuries and blood loss," and that the manner of death was a homicide.

The fatal episode led to the resignation of Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields on Saturday, the firing of the officer who shot and killed Brooks and the other officer involved being yanked from the streets and placed on administrative leave.

From your twitter link...

I'm Rayshard Brooks,

I was sentenced to 7 yrs for beating my kids, but was out on parole due to covid-19.

I drove drunk to Wendy's.

When a cop tried to arrest me for my 2nd DUI, I took his taser & fired at him, because I knew that I'd be sent back to jail.

I'm a martyr now...— Machiavelli (@TheRISEofROD) June 14, 2020

His death wasn't about race.

He was killed for being a dumbass, resisting arrest & trying to harm police officers. pic.twitter.com/Z06nnNWCec— Machiavelli (@TheRISEofROD) June 14, 2020

“Rayshard Brooks had a cordial conversation about being in the area to visit his mother’s grave and to celebrate one of his young daughter’s birthdays, according to a series of videos released by officials. “

He was in the area to do those things, but did he do any of them or just get drunk and high ?

"This guy was not in custody, he grabbed an officer’s taser and reportedly pointed it at the officer. If the body cam footage verifies this, I can’t understand why the officer was fired."

He didn't simply point it at the officer, he fired it at him.

Wendy's security footage confirms this.

Another one of the felons released from prison by our politicians and given some walking money (for booze and drugs) with a warning that should they be arrested they will be going back to prison for a much longer sentence.

What could go wrong ?

It’s almost as if the release of prisoners was some kind of SYSTEMIC PLAN to create death and chaos and blame on President Trump.

"There should be NO charges against either police officer. I think the shooter officer is going to be “lynched” by an overzealous prosecutor, aided by mob fury."

For those already employed, it's obviously a difficult choice...

but for any Caucasian even thinking about going into law enforcement in a democrat stronghold medium/large city, they must reconsider locations or line of work.

If their family and friends value them, love them, they must make it clear that they do not support LE employment in such cities.

Even if your innocent by rule of law, you will be scapegoated and then railroaded. That is the climate we are in now. If the criminal doesn't kill you while your doing your job, you will wind up in jail and killed there.

He didn't simply point it at the officer, he fired it at him.

He should not be charged, and he will not be convicted of anything. But the city of Atlanta will lose a good cop, and probably far more than one as other cops see how the mayor and the city administration refuse to defend them.

The word allegedly is not used in this article until the drunk man “allegedly” turns and fires the taser at the officer.

But, on the video it’s clear the taser is fired.

If you watch the video closely he definitely fired the taser at the officer and you can see the officer stumble into the red car when he was hit!!

"My dear old mother...What a load of smoke.."

When I first started in New York State Corrections in 1980, visits were allowed every day of the week. That eventually changed to weekends only. The majority of the women who visit convicts in prison, at least in New York State, are their mothers. They'd leave from New York City early on a Saturday morning, on a special bus that brought them up to central New York to see their son at the prison he was incarcerated. Some of them would come every weekend. I remember one mother that came for a visit, and the first thing her little bastard said to her when she entered the visiting room was: "What did you bring me." That was the only reason most of the cons looked forward to seeing their mothers and wives, was because they could bring them packages of food items, and leave them money for their personal account.

The first prison I worked at was Auburn, in Auburn, NY. Inmates were allowed two phone calls a month. An officer worked the phone room and inmates would come to the room on a scheduled phone callout. The officer would connect to an outside operator, who would then complete the collect calls. Once the person accepted the charges, the inmate would enter a phone booth to complete his call. They were only allowed to call the numbers on their approved phone list, and they had 10 minutes, no more. It never ceased to amaze me how inmates would come out of the booth claiming how much they loved their mother, or their wife so much, yet apparently didn't love them enough to stay out of prison.

There was a time when a convict released on parole wasn’t allowed to imbibe in alcohol, and of course no drugs, and if discovered to have done so, would have violated his parole, and be sent back to prison. I know parole requirements can include them have to attend mandatory drug and alcohol rehab programs, so I’m assuming there may still be restrictions on their drinking. Regarding their use of drugs, they’d probably have to do a piss test every time they met their parole officer. We tested inmates urine regularly in prison. It was done randomly, and also when there was suspicion of use.
