Courtney Lancaster, a mother and Navy Veteran, expressed her outrage after police pulled up to her door and asked to search her home for weapons. According to the police, the school safety officer at Lancasters 11-year-old sons school, Seneca Elementary, called law enforcement after spotting a BB gun in the background of a virtual class meeting.
I had no idea what to think. I’ve never been in any legal trouble whatsoever. I’ve never had any negative encounter with law enforcement, she told Fox 45 News. I had no idea. I really didn’t know what to think.
Although officers searched her 5th graders room and found nothing that compromised the sons safety or that needed to be reported, Lancaster claims that she was shocked.
I felt violated as a parent, for my child, who’s standing there with police officers in his room, just to see the fear on his face, she said.
Part of Lancasters frustrations with the situation were because of her and her sons experience with guns. According to Fox 45 News, not only did Lancaster serve in the military and handle weapons, but her son learned how to shoot BB and airsoft on his journey to becoming an Eagle Scout.
I thought, this is outrageous. This is despicable, she told Fox. I had no idea what in the world could this be over? BB guns never even once entered my mind. How many 11-year-old boys have BB guns?
When she first reached out to the school via email, Lancaster expressed her concerns that she was not contacted first to ask questions before calling law enforcement. Seneca Falls Elementary administrators then told her that the school made the decision to call, fearing for her sons safety after a screenshot of the BB gun circulated to the staff.
It’s absolutely scary to think about, Courtney said. Who are on these calls? Who do we have viewing your children and subsequently taking these screenshots that can be sent anywhere or used for any purpose?
Lancaster also told Fox 45 News that in her first conversation with the principal, the school administrator claimed that the BB gun in the background was equivalent to bringing a gun to school.
Not only is Lancaster unsure of the schools policies on these issues moving forward, but Lancaster also said that shes losing her faith in the school district to keep her privacy.
There’s no more trust. There have just been a series of lies and just no cooperation, she said.
In a statement requested by Project Baltimore, Baltimore County Schools claimed that their priority is always students and staff, but refused to elaborate on the situation.
Our longstanding policy is to not debate individual circumstances through the media. There are multiple ways for families to share concerns with us. In general terms, the safety of students and staff is our chief concern, whether we are meeting in classrooms or via continuity of learning.
I see this poor family was the target of a Karen Call.
Exactly. If they’re asking, it’s because they CAN’T. If they could, they’d be telling you what they’re going to do while you’re on the floor with the wind knocked out of you. As for whichever nazi called the cops, that school would do well in NOT telling me who did that and that principal would be reminded of this debacle every time I talked to them.
Typical low-life nitwit school “administrators”. Fire these useless goofs. She should sue the school losers for invading her and her son’s privacy.
Not what I read last week, she let em in and then was shocked.
She aint to smart
Sure looks like it. Clear violation of 2nd and 4th Amendments. They just hit the jackpot.
Have you noticed when blacks slaughter each other it’s called ‘gun violence’ - no one is responsible except the gun)
But when a cop kills a black person it’s called murder.
In 2019 10 unarmed blacks were killed by cops.
In 2019 over 7,000 blacks were killed by other black men.
My house is not their schoolroom.
What is in my house doesn’t constitute a reason for anyone at the school to call police.
[[In 2019 10 unarmed blacks were killed by cops.]
Tucker said the number was 9, and of those 9, all but 2 were justifiable, and the two that weren’t saw convictions of the police folks involved-
Where’s all this supposed ‘systemic deadly racism in the police force’? The only ones that face a high risk are the police- 54 of whom were killed in 2019
She was a service veteran. It’s engrained from basic forward. Probably forgot and thought she was still on the team when they politely asked to enter her quarters.
When I was 9, the 12 yo boy next door to me lost an eye from a BB gun. His glass eye spooked me out for years, just thinking about it.
"We got a report that someone on this property is exercising fundamental Constitutional rights. So we need to do a search."

NEVER interrupt a leftist narrative with facts. So far, other than he was black, there has been no identifiable link between floyd and racism.
Exactly. Talk about being vague, if you had a table with 100 hunting knives and several handguns sitting on it, is that illegal? You can strangle somebody with a pair of shoelaces, you could jab somebody in the neck with a metal-barrel pen, so wanting to “search for weapons” is vague to say the least. What sucks is that when you tell them no, they’ll probably stand there for 4 hours arguing with you about it and start in with the “Why are you acting so nervous?” and “If you’d let us search, we’d be out of here in a minute but YOU keep dragging this out”. Or the ole standby, “I smell weed.”
....But let it be a lesson. If you must have the camera on, put on some suitable clothing (pants, too), comb your hair, be sober, and have a blank wall or innocuous background behind you. Some apps will let you pick your background if you are in front of a suitabley blank background.
IOW, just like Big Media, control what people see coming from your feed! Don’t let anyone see what you don’t want them to see!
My blood is boiling far over 212°.
In my house, my parents never let me own a BB gun (I never asked). I got real guns only. The problem with a BB gun is that it’s small/low-powered enough to be considered a toy but can hurt you and destroy property. The kids that I grew up with were always out shooting birds and anything else that looked fun, I thought it was stupid and never went with them. You’d never be out doing that with a .22 (or you’d do it ONCE and wind up in some boys’ home for delinquents).
As a teacher this is insane, overreach, & NONE of their business.
