Never ever kowtow to the left-wing mobever. They don't want an apology. They want to destroy you. Period. They're an emotionally unstable and unhinged legion of troublemakers who have infiltrated almost every aspect of our society, especially cultural bastions. The woke activists who are mocked on The College Fix and Campus Reform in years past have graduated. The left-wing mob's reach has become more expansive and crazier than ever before. Remember this is the "silence is violence" crowd. Words are violence. Just a method for them to shut down free speech, which The New York Times and the Philadelphia Inquirer learned this past week. Top editors from both publications were scalped by this mob for printing op-eds that were "problematic." The NYT published an op-ed from Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) who argued the military should be deployed to quell the unrest caused by the officer-involved fatality of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25. The Inquirer pushed aside an editor who had been with the paper for over two decades, helped improve diversity in its newsroom, and helped them win a Pulitzer for their series on violence in Philly schools. Why was he sent to the guillotine? He printed a column called "Buildings Matter, Too."
And now country trio Lady Antebellum decided to make a preventative move to change their name to Lady A in the wake of the Floyd unrest. Political correctness is a cancer. We all know that, but the band's move was not without controversy because some blues artist who goes by that name is calling them out, slamming their decision as one grounded in privilege (via Rolling Stone):
You can bend a knee to the mob, but they'll still eat you. Every. Single Time.
This is delicious. https://t.co/4KHyoKlXDK Jason Howerton (@jason_howerton) June 12, 2020
Seattle blues singer Lady A had just gotten off of work on Thursday when a bombardment of phone messages from friends, fans and producers came in all shouting the same thing: Her name had been stolen.
Earlier that day, Grammy-winning country trio Lady Antebellum whose name had been criticized for its associations with romanticized ideas of the pre-war, slavery-ridden American South announced they were changing their name to Lady A in light of a heightened national conversation about racism. Lady Antebellum made the changes swiftly on social media and distribution platforms including Spotify and Apple Music, and the groups website also announced their rechristening as Lady A. But according to Seattles Lady A, neither the band nor any members of their team reached out to her before making the change.
This Lady A a 61-year-old black woman whose real name is Anita White has been playing the blues under the name for more than 20 years. She began singing as a gospel performer at church and started going by Lady A for karaoke nights in the Eighties. Shes released multiple albums with the name, and on top of her day job working with Seattle Public Utilities, shes gearing up to release another album, Lady A: Live in New Orleans, on her birthday on July 18th.
White tells Rolling Stone shes frustrated that Lady Antebellum hadnt gone to her before making a decision, pointing out the irony in changing a name in support of racial equality while simultaneously taking another one from a black performer. This is my life. Lady A is my brand, Ive used it for over 20 years, and Im proud of what Ive done, she says, her voice breaking. This is too much right now. Theyre using the name because of a Black Lives Matter incident that, for them, is just a moment in time. If it mattered, it would have mattered to them before. It shouldnt have taken George Floyd to die for them to realize that their name had a slave reference to it.
Well, that's it. Lady A, the white version, is canceled. They didn't need to change their name. Have the Dixie Chicks done the same? I don't think soand they're as lefty as they come. Lady Antebellum tried to "be woke" and got decapitated anyway. Looking down the barrel of the political correctness gun is both stupid and unnecessary. Those who go out of their way to assimilate to this insane ethos usually end up with buckshot to the face. Lady Antebellum is just the most recent victim.
They haven’t come after the hugely successful band Alabama (lately) though years ago
the group distanced themselves from the Confederate flag on album covers.
USA Today 2015:”’To me, Alabama (the state) was always looked at as the Heart of Dixie, and it had the rebel flag there,’ says Teddy Gentry, the groups bassist. ‘I never associated it with racism in any way. That was a symbol of the Old South, which I guess meant different things to different people. In our hearts, it meant, “This is where were from. Were from Dixie.”’
The Southern Cross design is long gone from the bands merchandise, though, often replaced by the U.S. or Alabama state flags. Manager Tony Conway says Alabama has had a clause in its contracts for several years stating that no use of the Confederate flag is allowed in any marketing or promotional materials for the group.”
One of their hits is named after a certain controversial Disney movie, Song of the South, and drops the name of another film
in the news lately:
Song, Song of the South
Sweet potato pie and shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the Wind
Ain’t nobody lookin’ back again
The melody then blends into that of
a folk song many call racist: Dixie
Its hanging on by a thread on Outlaw Country.
Really. They left chicks behind a while ago. Even a fox guarding the hen house would be insulted.
I like it!
I call them Chicks with Dix.
Lady Fruehauf
Dont recall stating it was Country.
Make stuff up a lot do ya
What are these "country radio stations" you speak of? Anytime I've spun past them it's been some bastardized version of pop/hip-hop/rap country and frankly, its unlistenable.
They should have changed it to Transgender Lady Antebellum and started crossdressing. They would have become instantly immune from modern culture grievance criticism.
Freegards
My XM channels are very few.
148 is the main one.
I wouldnt know a Garth Brooks song if it fell out of the sky and hit me on the head.
I bought a couple of his CD’s before I realized I can’t stand him. He’s so fake and Trisha is silly too......so I’ll just be satisfied to sit here with my “Friends In Low Places” and enjoy the good life.......;)
Feminists hate the word lady too.
Not very woke of them.
Feminists hate the word lady too.
That’s because they’re too ugly inside and out to be one....;)
They could completely change their name and call themselves The folding b**ches

Sounds like a punk rock or new wave band that would have played at CBGB back in the 80’s.
Just call them “The Brees”.
Only if you allow him too. I have his music out of my playlists. Garth actually makes this pretty easy as he's one of the last remaining recording artists to not allow his music to be streamed on Apple Music. Yeah, like I'm going to actually go buy his CDs!
Even if the music was good, I haven't bought a CD since around 2005.
I have heard of this group. I remember thinking their name was pretty stupid. I have never heard them perform because I do not listen to Country Music. What is really stupid is picking a name that represents the Old South, and then being embarrassed for having done so. They can’t claim “we had no idea” what their name meant. They should have just continued with what they had, rather than going all Drew Brees as they did. Many of their fans will probably desert them now. Country Music fans tend to be more conservative than the performers these days.
Over a century ago Pavlov taught us that you get more of the behavior you reward.
They should go back to their original name and defend it. Or retire it and record under a wholly new name that can’t be picked apart.
But if they’re stuck with trying to come up with Lady something-or-other, try Lady Antivenom. At least it sounds pretty close!
Great minds think alike. I too have quickly changed the channel when Dixie Chicks come on. I also have Patriot as one of my favorites. As well as Y2Kountry; Highway; Outlaw Country, Prime Country, Classic Rewind, Deep Tracks, Loft, Spectrum, 80s, 70s. And a few others.
The Highway is one of my go-to stations but a major annoyance is that morning show they do with that Stormy Warren. He's another one of those virtue signalers who is always trying to let everybody know how "virtuous" he is on every social issue. At least his sidekick "MC" tends to steer him back when he gets too far off the track.
