Following George Floyd's death, the nation may not be ready for reparations on racism issues but the "church can lead the way in biblical restitution," according to the president and CEO of Christianity Today.
Timothy Dalrymple said "repentance alone is not enough" for white evangelicals to atone for the nation's "original sin" of racism in an op-ed for the magazine.
"The virus of racism infected our church, our Constitution and laws, our attitudes and ideologies. We have never fully defeated it," Dalrymple wrote.

“The virus of racism infected our church, our Constitution and laws..”
What church and constitution is this nut talking about?
The only church that I know promotes racism is the one that Obama attended (Jeremiah Wright and Calypso Louie).
None of the rioters/protestors would have been born but for slavery. Thats the way history works - its impossible to reset the clock back to when the first slave ship arrived in America, or even when the last one arrived.
Consequently none, or only the merest handful, of the ancestors of the rioters would ever even have met, let alone made children together.
Its one thing for a self-righteous Christian whose ancestors were nowhere near any American slaves to decide that someone else should repent of sins committed before their grandfathers were even born. It must look different to the person whose ancestors actually were involved with that evil, but then legal, practice.
Injustices, retrospectively so considered, checker everyones history. The big difference is not that they exist in Americas past but that white Americans are stupid enough to fall for this (im)moral blackmail. Only Christians ever lead in the abolition of slavery anywhere. In America the descendants of slaves, typically, are materially better off than the American middle class was 60 years ago - and materially better off than Queen Victoria (1819-1901) was in her day. Let alone the plantation owners of the antebellum South.
So materially the concept makes little sense. And morally it makes even less sense unless you believe that there should be inequality and nobility lording it over commoners. Which is precisely what racial preference is all about.
The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race. - Chief Justice Roberts
The Pharisees have spoken. Obey!
Yeah, one Baptism for the remission of Sin ... I think I swore to something along those lines.
And the idiots wonder why churches are empty . . .
+1, FRiend
Data from U.S. Census reports reveal that between 1880-1960, married households consisting of two-parent homes were the most widespread form of African-American family structures. Although the most popular, married households decreased over this time period. Single-parent homes, on the other hand, remained relatively stable until 1960; when they rose dramatically.[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American_family_structure#cite_note-Ruggles-28]
A study of 1880 family structures in Philadelphia, showed that three-quarters of Black families in America were nuclear families, composed of two parents and children. In New York City in 1925, 85% of kin-related Black households in America had two parents. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American_family_structure#cite_note-jewishworldreview.com-29]
In 1991, 68% of Black children in America were born outside of marriage. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American_family_structure#cite_note-20]

So you think we need to handout reparations?
What is wrong with you?
I have ZERO patience for idiocy.
Who determines who receives reparations? Who determines who pays reparations? Who determines the dollar amount of said reparations? These are just a few questions of many regarding reparations.
I don’t have ANY questions.
But I do have an answer: NO
CT bad, Decision good
Is there a publication called Decision? Is that what Decision good means? I have never heard of it if there is. So I was asking if you were talking about the decision to lead in reparation dialog. Now that I look it up I see there is a Decision Magazine - Billy Graham. I've never heard of it before now, so it was ignorance, not idiocy. I was merely trying to understand your post. At least I didn't jump on you. Instead I was looking for clarification. Because I was sincerely hoping you didn't mean what I initially thought you might have meant.
Not just NO!, but HELL, NO! Or, in the words of General Anthony McAuliffe, NUTS!
Yes, DECISION is Billy Graham's publication since 1960. It's now run by Franklin Graham.
I only posted the same thing five times on this thread.
From that I'm asked if I want reparations. Give me a freaking break.
Three quarters of a million dead, tens of thousands without arms, legs, eyes. Reparations have been paid in blood sacrifice.
Pick a side.
600,000 White People paid the price in full with their lives 140 years ago so that the Black Slaves could be free. Reparations paid in full in blood.
CT goes further down the toilet. May God truly damn them.
These woke pukes can give all they want. Im 3rd generation. Im not giving a dime. How disgusting these people are.
