Houston Texans head coach and general manager Bill O'Brien says he'll take a knee during the national anthem next season with his players to protest racial inequality and police brutality.
"Yeah, I'll take a knee -- I'm all for it," O'Brien told the Houston Chronicle. "The players have a right to protest, a right to be heard and a right to be who they are. They're not taking a knee because they're against our flag. They're taking a knee because they haven't been treated equally in this country for over 400 years."

NFL is a great. NFL and college games have real strategy, cool uniforms and interesting history. It is too bad that the NFL broadcasts its lack of intelligence in many ways: kneeling for anthems, placing microphones on players (big mistake, since they are so dumb), allowing coaches to talk politics, yanking teams out of traditional cities like Baltimore, jacking up prices, and cutting corners on security.
It is clear why Brady skates through the defenses and scores regularly: the defensive players seem as dumb as rocks. Same with baseball. MLB players are cool until you ask them questions that require an education. What percentage of fans own homes? What branch of the military did Ted Williams serve? What disease killed Lou Gehrig? If these three questions to all 400 MLB players , then it would be tragic to read their responses.
“One thing is for certain, NONE of these athletes has ever been treated equally to any other American. Once their talent was revealed, they attended prestigious, expensive schools at little to no charge, and their course work was overlooked in exchange for entertaining fans.”
And they got all the calories they needed. . . And a little cash was exchanged with the alumni handshakes. . . And an attorney with a connected law firm was made available when that little thing came up about the fight at the bar. . . And all the disadvantaged players always seemed to have great cars in school. . .
Taking a knee or kneeling down is a token jester of submission. In this case submission to the American Republic for which it stands and those those that gave their life for freedom. Maybe that will make them stand up now that they know what kneeling and submission is.
“One knee? Is he not even going to put his face on the ground?”

...and wash the feet of all the black players. He might as well do the full grovel.
Sports and Hollywood. I haven’t watched a Super Bowl in close to 30 years and am proud to say I went to bed on some of those nights not knowing who won.
he athletes may think they are celebs but they are not except to the fools who pay high money to see grown men play with balls, so to speak. Outside the circus, sure they will always have their jock sniffers but hopefully that number dwindles.
Because people like to gamble, football will always be popular I am afraid. As Al Michaels said not too long ago to his analyst who said during a blowout that no one cares if the losing team scored a TD in the final minute: (paraphrasing) “A touchdown here, and the total amount of points will matter to those viewers still watching.”
No one disputes that. It is the venue and the method that is under discussion. I as a paying customer do not wish to see the players disrespect the flag, and yes, by inference, me, the US citizen.
The players can go protest all they want on Monday.
The NFL has destroyed itself. I think the TV ratings are going to crater - I won't be watching and I'm considering not participating in fantasy football, and we have had our league for thirty-five years. I am also curious to see how live attendance is affected. And I wonder how season ticket sales which are going on right now will be affected.
ESPN morphed into BLM-TV so quickly.... I cannot abide any of their talkers or reporters any more. To hell with them.
Bye bye BLUE. I hardly knew ya, evidently.
It is a bit surprising that they aren’t kissing their asses.
Yes they keep saying that. They do not seem capable of understanding that that is the way we see it - disrespecting the flag and the country. And we are the customer, the fan. They can play with themselves for all I care.
...Unless they can start dribbling a football, they’re done..
And give up his job to a black - African American - coach so TPTB will shut the hell up about under representation of blacks in the coaching field.
Its a sickness
You are not the customer ... the advertisers are ...
The English treated my People pretty rottenly for almost one thousand years, then just over one hundred twenty years ago, virtually starved them into extinction. Should I take a knee over that?
And while you’re down there don’t forget to buff up their shoes like a good boy.
I don’t watch anymore but few have joined me. The NFL has been crapping on America for some time, America yawned (100 million+ watched the ratings say). Bread and circuses indeed.
I’m out no matter what. That being said - Not playing the anthem is in no way a solution. It is a cop out and I want them to pick their side of the issue. If they stop the anthem it makes everything even easier to follow through on. Stop the cash cold turkey.
- No attendance / Boycott games
- No TV audience
- Boycott advertisers
- No SWAG - jerseys/ hats / T-shirts
The contracts are paid by all of the above and more. Start with the above and bleed the beast wherever and whenever you can. And yes - PHUQ college football as well. It is their training grounds.
