The Minneapolis City Council on Friday unanimously passed a resolution to pursue a community-led public safety system to replace the police department following the death of George Floyd at the hands of the city’s police.
The move comes days after a veto-proof majority of the council voted to disband the police department after the country erupted in protest over the killing of Floyd, a black man who died when a white police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes.
“The murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020, by Minneapolis police officers is a tragedy that shows that no amount of reforms will prevent lethal violence and abuse by some members of the Police Department against members of our community, especially Black people and people of color,” five council members wrote in the resolution.

Real cool, the whole city council calling George Floyd’s killing a “murder.” What’s that going to do to the defendants’ right to a fair trial with an impartial jury? Even more important, it’s going to give each of them a great issue to raise on appeal of the justified verdicts they will receive. If I were the judge, I’d grant each one’s motion for a change of venue just to protect the verdicts.

Another Freeper, I don’t remember who, predicted that the cops would get off on a technicality (possibly deliberately intended), and that would happen right around October to set off more riots and try to influence the election in favor of the Democrats.
My money would be on LESS than five years.
1. The 'burbs will get overrun with the "white flight."
2. The various talking heads will screech "RACISM!"
3. THEN living in Puckerbrush won't look so bad. People will slowly move to states south, east and west.
4. The talking heads will blame the "white flight" for the emptying and deterioration of Minneapolis.
5. More people will leave Minneapolis.
6. Cities and states south, west and east of Minneapolis will start complaining about their rising home prices...and blame it on the "white flight" from Minneapolis.
And on and on and on and on.
Does THAT sound reasonable?
