The Minneapolis City Council on Friday unanimously passed a resolution to pursue a community-led public safety system to replace the police department following the death of George Floyd at the hands of the citys police.
The move comes days after a veto-proof majority of the council voted to disband the police department after the country erupted in protest over the killing of Floyd, a black man who died when a white police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes.
The murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020, by Minneapolis police officers is a tragedy that shows that no amount of reforms will prevent lethal violence and abuse by some members of the Police Department against members of our community, especially Black people and people of color, five council members wrote in the resolution.

I’m taking bets on how long will it take for Minneapolis to shrink by half.
I say five years.
Vote Democrat!
Uh....like Community Oriented Policing we’ve been funding for decades? Rename it and try again? Sure....
Soviets with Peoples’ Commissars, paid with tax dollars to enforce political extremism. What could go wrong?
Giant ladle full of bullsh!t. “Hands up, don’t shoot”.
Population: 425,403 (2018)
Metro population: 3,629,190
I assume the disbanding of the Police affects only the 425k and not the suburbs.
When the Covid Shutdown protesters entered the capitol, some with AR-15s, she was so frightened that she donned a bullet resistant vest.
The next day, she was escorted to work not by Capitol Police or any other law enforcement agency, but by more armed citizens, the only difference being this time the citizens were of the "right" color.
It won’t be a “disbanding”; it will be a replacement of the professional force with a black police force (here in NJ many urban departments are just jobs programs for certain minorities).
The non-contributing gibsmedats will now staff the force, funded by taxpayers elsewhere.
What Minneapolis needs is puppet theater.
They should have a little puppet theater on every block.
That will solve all their problems.
Your attitude is noticed, you know. Oh yes, it’s been noticed.
One: Soon new immigrants from Somalia will be the largest demographic group.
Two: Muslim women in most cities in America have between 4 and 6 children each on average, making them a fast growing population element.
“Im taking bets on how long will it take for Minneapolis to shrink by half. I say five years.”
I say more like 5 months.
I can assure the fine folks that live within 30 miles of Minneapolis that they will see housing prices fall by 50+%. And that’s today.
Minneapolis area won’t shrink like Detroit, too many big and solid companies that aren’t going anywhere, it’ll just become hyper urban sprawled like Chicago, i.e. if you wanna be safe, you’ll pay big time to live in St Cloud. Or you can have a cool loft in some “gentrified” area (which will cost double). Good times. See ya Minneapolis, wouldn’t wanna be ya.
A community model means Shariah police in the very large Somali community and gradually to all of Minneapolis as non Somalis move out of town. Minneapolis becomes Little Mogadishu and then Greater Mogadishu.
Yeah, but now they'll also get to enforce Sharia law.
Brown shirts coming. Second Amendment more important than ever.
The intent was ALWAYS to get rid of the police force. They only needed a trigger to set off a whole “community reform”.
The proposed substitute agency sounds very much like the “enforcers” of Sharia law, which will be readily adopted by the remaining people of Minneapolis. With this divine guidance, all people will come to follow the “path to water” and arrive at a personal surrender to their own better natures.
Of course, there may be some backsliders. The simple answer is to behead them in the public square, as an example to others.
This system has worked so well in many Muslim-majority countries.
