Mayor Lori Lightfoot redirects anger to a new enemy — the Police Department and its union

Mayor Lori Lightfoot is praising U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush for that gift of a video that helps her kick the Chicago police union in the teeth.

I don’t think she’ll ever forgive Rush for that despicable slur during her 2019 mayoral campaign. Anyone voting for Lightfoot, Rush said, would have on their hands “the blood of the next young black man or black woman who is killed by the police.”

She wants police officers to be licensed. If she gets that, it might make things easier for City Hall to get rid of cops it doesn’t like. This could give her some cover when Black Lives Matter demands that Democrats begin defunding the police.

Exhausted and angry, Lightfoot got into a cussing fight with aldermen. The gang shootings and murders mounted. Businesses and neighborhoods wondered why City Hall had such a difficult time establishing order and stopping the looting.

And the cops in the grab from the video certainly look relaxed, especially the officer zonked out on the couch. And elsewhere, there were many officers taking a beating, injured and abused in the protests that veered out of control. But had this cop on Rush’s couch been working 12 hours and just crashed? I don’t know.

“At worst, though, it’s misconduct," FOP President John Catanzara Jr. told me.

“What happened is quite simple,” he said. "All the craziness died down, and now the anti-police rhetoric needs to go up. She’s pushing her anti-police agenda. She wants to break the union. So, she throws gasoline on a fire.

“But even if it happened, eight to 13 officers can’t distract from the citywide failure of City Hall for what happened. It didn’t change the fact that there was no plan.”

The bogus story is beginning to unravel quickly. The police were invited rest inside of the office.

Police Unions have been protecting thug cops like Derek Chauvin for decades.

'Course, they've been endorsing and laundering money for demonicRAT politicians like Groot for decades, too.

So, I think this may all be a show.

Just like when the Police Union goes on strike when "negotiations" with the city, county, state, whatever don't go well.

Not going to happen. The police were set-up in this case.

The police have had all days off and vacation days cancelled going forward and they've been working 12 hour shifts seven days a week since all the rioting and looting started.

The cop on the couch sleeping? He probably needed it. The rest "lounging around?" Depending on the day of the week it was, we've had some pretty hot days here in the past week and the humidity has been high. They probably needed a good cooling off before heading back out.

Calling any of the behavior depicted in the photos as "misconduct" is flat out bullspit.
