“Open Borders w/Teddy Bears Cruz” is a gutless Republican?

I’m shocked...

Some people TRIED to start a new party...named it the “Federalist” Party. They gave up. Most of them are still active at Townhall publication.

They should have stuck with it.

I agree with you on that. I don’t want the rioting and destruction to stop until everyone has enough video footage for their campaign ads.

Something to keep in mind here is that we’re dealing with an uncomfortable situation where the governors and mayors who are directly responsible for quelling these disturbances simply aren’t doing their jobs. In some cases — like New York City — the governor and mayor are publicly clashing over the mayor’s ineptitude.

I’m not sure a Congressman really has any place in that conversation at all.

Personally, I am happy to see that the Tenth Amendment actually means something again.

Republicans want to see Trump fail as badly as the Democrats do.

Spot on. Seems like the media is now taking aim at the enthusiasm gap between DJT and Biden. Republicans, particularly in the Senate, appear to be sitting this one out making the party as a whole look completely feckless. It’s hard for the POTUS to go at it alone, particularly when every other day a general comes out to take a swing at him.

They are where they always are. We elect them and they will not fight for our values. This has been going on for more years than I can remember. I hope now that our nation is sliding into the swamp of history, the elites who have stood by while they piled up more and more riches for themselves will soon understand that they, too, have feet of clay, which means that money cannot makes their dreams come true, no matter what. I can count Republican statesmen on one hand..John Kennedy of LA, Rand Paul of KY, Matt Gaetz, Jim Jordan of OH..These stand out in my mind because they fight hard for what is right, without waffling. I know there are others that Freepers could name, as well. Marsha Blackburn, Senator from TN, is also a strong force. She has been awesome for a long time. When I see some of those elected to serve in our Congress speak on TV, I fear for our system and wonder how on earth such people get elected. This is a big flaw in our democracy, and it will not be fixed.

They are kneeling before criminals.

But reaping what they have sown will be a bitch. They’ve earned the consequences.

Most Republicans in the House and Senate are professional politicians who represent economic interests. While they run for office as “conservatives”, they are not ideologues. As we have seen few will stand on principle when their personal interests are at risk. If our current elected Republicans were at the Philadelphia Convention in 1776, none would sign the Declaration of Independence.

As I think back to every election since 1988 I have voted for Republicans to keep a radical leftist from holding office. Time after time thes Republicans compromise, rather than fight, simply delaying the inevitable. With few exceptions (Reagan in the 80’s, the Gingrich House Republicans in 1994, and Trump in 2016), Republicans votes have been for the lesser of two evils.

So here we are with the barbarians inside the gates and running free. The Republican politician are silent because they are calculating how to protect their personal interests, not how to save the Republic. The Constitution they swore to uphold is less important to them than continuing to play in the Washington political game.

The calculation is if they are silent the conservative base will still turn out for them because a vote for the Democrat’s is a vote for anarchy and dictatorship, Each GOP politician knows if he speaks out against the mob his fellow Republican will not stand with him. Unlike Democrats who stand together on every issue, GOP politicians stand alone in the public sphere, particularly when there is a media frenzy.

Any Republican today who speaks against the mob will immediately be targeted along with family members and donors. The politics of personal destruction will be unleashed. Few men or women can alone stand against a focused effort to destroy them. By staying silent they hope to make it to Election Day when they expect the loyal base to turn out in sufficient numbers to win. Should they lose, without having been targeted and destroyed by the mob, they can retire comfortably with a corporate board seat, position in academia, or fat lobbying job.

For Informed conservative voters there is real fear the next time Democrat’s control the White House, and both houses of Congress the Republic will end. The Democrats use the levers of powe to either fix the election process so they can never lose the majority, as in many blue states and cities today, or they will scrap the obsolete and racist Constitution written by slave holders, and replace it with a modern document allowing them to rule unchecked.

Sadly, a vote for almost any GOP politician is not a vote for founding principles. It is simply a vote to delay the imposition of a leftist tyranny..

The Democrats smell victory. If Trump goes down they know Pence, Romney, McConnell, and the rest of the GOP political class will be ready to make a deal and return to business as usual. What these GOP politicians don’t yet understand is this time if the Dems take control, things will be different. The New Democrats crave absolute power and will not tolerate any opposition party.

This week we have seen our military leaders openly choose sides. Note that despite having sworn an oath to protect the Constitution, they openly broke with the Commander in Chief elected by the people. The last time that occurred, General McArthur was fired by President Truman. If Trump fires the insubordinate Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and Secretary of Defense he knows there will be a media frenzy and political firestorm. He also knows the GOP Senate will likely not support him. What does this say about the future of the Republic?

Beat me to it, gutless Republicans are everywhere, they’re not hard to find.

I was listening to Howie Carr today on the radio (Boston based show) and he had a caller ask the same question, Where are the Republicans supporting Trump, the police and law and order? And why are they not condemning the violence, looting and vandalism? The response seemed to indicate that the GOP is spineless and afraid. Completely leaderless, outside of Trump. Instead, you have people in power backstabbing the president at every turn (Mattis, Milley). It really does appear that Trump has very few loyal supporters, outside of Sen. Cotton. Very discouraging and frustrating for conservatives.

Good post. It’s why I won’t vote in the congressional portion of the 2020 election.

I don’t remember if it was just commentary or polling, but someone called Tom Cotton the leader for the 2024 nomination.

Cotton would be excellent as President in 2024, but would hate to lose him in the Senate. It was a mistake for Jeff Sessions to give up his Senate seat and a Democrat get it (besides the fact Sessions was a much better Senator than Attorney General).

I’ve long said “they’re in this together.” I really do believe much of it is staged/planned by both sides together.

Darker voices will say Trump is in on the game, too - but I doubt it. The violent opposition he attracts is too extreme for him to be anything but a threat to the established order...

...who are all petrified by the precarious state of the economy right now. They know it isn't coming back, and are frantically looking around for ways to make sure they don't take any career-ending blame for the upcoming depression. Speaking out strongly against BLM and Antifa would shake the phony markets badly, so the GOPe are keeping quiet and hoping it all blows over before they have to take any kind of public stand.
