Federal judge rules ICE can no longer operate in and around New York courthouses

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents can no longer make civil immigration arrests in and around New York state courthouses, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.

Legal aid attorneys and immigrant rights organizations had called for an end to the practice in recent years.

The immigration raids jeopardized public safety and discouraged victims and witnesses from reporting crimes and participating in the legal process, according to Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. He and New York Attorney General Letitia James filed the lawsuit against ICE and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to end the practice.

Judges are supposed to issue rulings based on the law. What law has be broken by federal immigration legal authorities operating where illegal aliens are likely to be found?

Another reason why Judge Sullivan needs be slapped down hard. This notion that judges are grand high exalted rulers is BS. The constitution sets up a supreme court, period. Lessor courts are set up by Congress. IOW, they are subservient to the exact same laws as everyone else regardless of their “beliefs”. So, give this guy a choice, rescind your order or face a rope.

Nullification has been enshrined into American Tradition now by the long acceptance of Sanctuary Cities and States and tacit acceptance that states and burgs can choose to not enforce or obey federal laws they do not like. And now we have the Commune de Pari of Seattle. The original in 1871 lasted two month 150 years ago.
